So i'm rotting in never ending traffic on my way home from work, and this beautiful yet disgustingly treated Corvette is in my line of sight for 3 straight miles...I get to the point where the paint and condition is bothering me so much that I put my car in park, jump out, motion for him to roll down his window and throw my business card onto his passenger seat...(I know the pic doesn't look bad, but trust me, it was a mess)

And to make the story better, he called this morning and booked a detail. Go at it fellas, could work for ya...lol

Seeing a swirled to hell Supra, is the reason I got business cards. I feel for ya brother.

I wonder if the driver still has your card ............ if I were him I would have been embarrassed and insulted.

Just my .02 worth.

Glad it worked out good for you, but some advice for the next time you do that be careful you never know what is behind that window( p side or not)

That is a good idea, the driver probably knew his car was a wreck and was looking at it like you were trying to help him.

Yeah for sure, if you came running up to me in traffic down here my business card would be Glock 27.

Glad it worked out but I agree that I could also see this going badly as well and the driver being insulted by it.

cool

i agree it's pretty weird to throw your business card into someones car unprompted... but you'd wave a gun at them for that? lol you must live in a pretty bad neighborhood

Not at all, where did you see neighborhood in his post or mine? He was in traffic and ran up to a total stranger in a new Vette and approached his vehicle and threw something in. And I didn't say I'd wave anything just that I'd have my business card ready too. PS Florida has the most concealed weapons holders in any state in the country and I'm one of the over one million. There's a proper tactful way to approach someone about caring for their car and that's not the way.

Glad it worked out but it's not really about the neighborhood, IMHO. It's more about the perceived threat. Sadly, there's carjackings all the time here in Orlando - just reality. :(

:dblthumb2: You put someone on the defensive and a defensive reaction is what you get. There's millions and millions of swirled out cars on the road every day, you just gotta let it go. It's your passion, that doesn't mean it's every one else's. Maybe Mike P. should teach a class how to approach a prospective owner and educate them without insulting them. :dblthumb2:

Just had a very similar situation last week..
Here's my FB post about it:

Opportunities come up every day. Most of us are blind to them or see them but are too scared to act on them. The worst that can happen is you fail. And the best that could happen, well, that's for you to find out. Wednesday I was stopping for gas at the Shell station and saw a guy drying off his black Camaro SS that he just took through the touchless wash. I could have just driven by, got my gas, and left. But that's not who I am anymore. I stopped and told him how gorgeous his car was and that I would love to detail it. I got a call later that night and he scheduled a wax. Tonight I got to wash and wax the car and after I was done educating him about quality of microfiber towels for drying he went on to tell me how he has a friend with a Ferrari and one with a Viper and that he's going to talk to them about taking their cars to me. You've got to keep your eyes open for opportunities and when they come along don't hesitate.

I agree, don't just run up and throw your card at them. Complement the car first at least.

You're kidding!!!...
The condition of some object, that someone else owns,
bothered you to the "braking"-point of your:
Care-giver to: All That Pains The World mentality?!?!

A "passing" thought:
I, for one, would never allow someone that doesn't display
they have enough sense to "not play in traffic"...
to touch my vehicles. Ever!

Makes sense. Sad state of affairs.

I think that would be an invaluable lesson. I feel like the customer approach is something that people fly by the seat of their pants with and you either have a natural talent for it or you don't.

I don't.

That's just like a barber handing out his card to people with messy hair. Why should I look the way you want me to???

But still, I give the OP credit for getting out there and getting it done
