So when I started doing detailing on my own cars I started with a Porter Cable. Used that for a few years before Hurricane Sandy took it from me. Since money was real tight I replaced it with the Harbor Freight DA. This I still have and it still is going strong but had an itch for an upgrade. So after doing some reading on the board I bought the Griots DA today at Advance Auto. With their 20% off for online orders it came to $120 with tax. So hoping this one lives up to the reviews. I will be trying it out tomorrow on the wifes car. We'll see how it goes

I did same thing last Saturday. It is with the upgrade. I used code trt30 and got 30% off and paid $106. Someone else posted saying there is a $50 off coupon as well. Either way it is worth the money

compared to other traditional PC style DA's, you will see why the GG6 is a step above them. lots of torque and power (warranty), have fun and enjoy it!

btw, GG has a huge announcement on the 6/6 (iirc) and who knows if it will be a new DA/polisher, so keep your eyes and ears open...

So I detailed the wifes car this morning. It wasn't in bad shape as it is a 2013 but it needed doing. Used the Griot's machine and it worked flawlessly. Much more power than I expected. I couldn't get the pad to stop rotating no matter what I did. The PC and the HF had to be finessed to keep the pad spinning. I gotta say I am impressed so far.

^ good to hear, glad you like it... :)

that's why if anyone is looking to get a PC style DA and want something with a little more power/torque
and excellent warranty should look into a GG6. can't say it enough...

Really like mine. Griot's did a fine job with this machine. I do see myself getting a Flex in the future sometime, but with the GG6, 3 backing plates, 6", 5" & 3" and a plethora of pads, the only obstacle is overall correction time. I'm good for now.:dblthumb2:

Peace,

:dblthumb2: great choice! I'm sure we'd all love to see the results after your first use!

You have to click ship to your house. Sometimes the system glitches when it shows that they aren't in stock at your store.

I did and talked to a chat member. They're out of stock for 3-5 weeks and can't take any orders.

Dumb question I know but did you check other stores? When I got mine closes store to me was 45 minutes away

It would be nice if there were some GG6 on closeout but they may keep it. I was hoping to get a machine ASAP since claying is a must after getting white paint on my black car today.

link to the pics?

Don't really like posting links on AG. Search for Griot's Garage Facebook. I believe it is also on Griot's Garage's website homepage. It is a 4 letter word and it definitely starts with a B. There have been a few people that went to the flagship store in Washington that were told to wait til June 6th to buy a polisher if they can.
