Engine bay dressing-- what do you use?

Well they might be gone but I couldn't leave them like that. I'm too OCD for that. But I guess that is a very small amount of fairly easily taken care of.

It's right up there in my question. The OptiBond diluted 1:1 made what looked like water beading or droplets. Not milky or runny like your pictures above, but small beads of water/product. After about 5 minutes, I just wiped up what I could. It looked great but it wasn't quite spray and walk away. Unless I was supposed to wait much longer.

Try using Hyper Dressing if you want to spray & walk away. I’ve never used Opti Bond, but apparently it’s unable to work the way D170 does..
 
At the rate I do engine compartments, that OptiBond should last me to retirement. LOL Actually, I've done three in the last three days. Two were going to car shows this weekend.
 
I use 303 AP. Lasts about 6 months (spring until I get rust-proofing done in the fall), and doesn't collect much, if any, dust.

Use what ever water based dressing you like. Just make sure you are not using a silicone based dressing because it can harm some of the components of the engine.

I personally use Hyper dressing but Perl or Opti-Bond would also work well.

My OptiBond bottle (1 liter size) is about 75% empty and the remaining 25% has separated. I don't know if it's still good after shaking it but it might turn bad after a few years. I think I have had this bottle for 4 years now.

can you use 303 by spray and let it sit without wiping or does it have to be wiped dry? i think i read that it needs to be wiped dry.

with water based dressings that i use for the wheel wells, i usually just spray it (not too liberally) and let it dry on it's own without wiping it down. if you were to use in the engine bay and let it sit for a while, i would lightly wipe it down after (can use a blower in conjunction as well) to rid any leftover dressing in the crevices...
 
I use Adam's in and Out or Meguiar's D4510 Plastic & Vinyl Coating.

Both work great and are easy to use.

304 Protectant must be buffed dry, or else it will remain greasy and attract dirt.
 
I've used everything from Griot's Garage Engine Bay Dressing (GREAT product), 303 protectant (how can you go wrong) and just got VRT which I've heard great things about, will go down to the garage at halftime of the Hotspurs and Man U game in a bit and apply some, thanks to this thread.

Hyper dressing is hard to beat. Super inexpensive and always produce great results. But, anything water based is probably ok. As long as it dries without causing stains, you can use it.
 
I guess I'm the odd one here.
I use a fine mist sprayer, mf towel and a blower. 1-2 minutes and done.

Products? I have most of the products mentioned here and honestly it hasn't made much of a difference (it's hidden, out of the weather.). I typically use what I didn't like on the exterior (with the exception being I don't use gel like products there).
 
I've used the [older] Blackfire All in One Trim & Tire Protectant.

at two months, it was dusty, but still looked pretty good. I last checked around end of November.
 
My Sonus motor kote will be here tomorrow for the lazy spray

Anything plastic I just use Wolfgang exterior trim sealant because I know it lasts
