Hey guys I will make this short and sweet.. I just bought some chemical guys products there swirl remover and a couple polishes. I used the swirl remover on the swirled out trunk and it worked and making the swirls alot smaller they are most deff better. then i used theyre polish and thought it would do the rest of the work to get the paint flawless but it didn't! i went back and forth using different pads and combos with polish and swirl remover and i canot seem to get the micro swirls out i dont what else to try i ordered menzerna fg400 and theyre final polish cause i suspect its the chemical guys products and ive read great things about menzerna.. its a 2008 ford focus btw

its hard to see in the pictures

I really can't tell the swirls from the pics. But my experience with Chemical Guys V products were not good. I trashed them all and went with Menzerna FG400 and SF4500 for polish. That is my favorite combo.

You can also use SF4000 which will have similar results to SF4500. SF4000 has a little more cut than SF4500.

I think your problems will be solved with that combo. Since you have most of the swirls out you just might want to try SF4000.

I am assuming you used a GG6, PC7424XP or equivalent and used an Orange Lake Country Pad (or equivalent) for compounding and a White Lake Country Pad (or equivalent) for polishing. The Speed setting for both would be at around 5.

I have a gg6 5.5 hex logic I tried polishing with the white the green and blue pads all identical results..I used meguires ultimate polish and it seemed to improve but I think that might have been because it has "fillers". The menzerna is on the way so hopefully that takes care of it!! Thank you for the feedback

Another good combo that usually works really good is Meg's D300 correction compound with a megs cutting disc.. And a good polish of your choice..

IME, you have to diagnose what is going on here before you start spending more money on products. "Making the swirls smaller", can describe multiple issues.

There are 2 main possibilities:

1. The cutting step is improving the defects, but not removing them.

2. The polishing step is not removing the defects caused by the cutting step acceptably.

***Either issue will leave you with a finish with defects after the polishing step is complete.

Until you figure out exactly what is going on, success may elude you. The way to figure it out is to do a test spot with a tape line. Then, pull the tape and compare the defects at the tape line edge to the untouched area.

With a little bit of skill, you should be able to discover it you are removing the heavier defects or are looking at the defects your cutting step has made. This is an important distinction. Without it, you may be chasing your tail as the clear coat gets thinner.

While the CGs polishes probably aren't the best - they're probably not the worse either. Sometimes the polish just sucks - but this isn't common today. More than likely it's a technique issue or you are using a product(s) not appropriate for the task at hand.

I think you are right.. the swirls become much smaller after the swirl remover but then dont polish out.. what would you suggest then polish more or more swirl remover?

I have had the same problem with Chemical Guys V series line. Made the paint more shiny but it diddnt get rid of any scratches.

I also tried Ultimate compound and Ultimate polish. This worked a little better but still diddnt get everything out. Car looks good but in the sun and right angle of looking you can still see scratches. Im kind of stuck now...

here is was vss scratch and swirl remover and an orange hex logic pad did to my paint...

I went and got some meguires compound with same pad and got much better results

then i hit it with meguires polish with the green hex logic pad and it finished out great..
it almost looks like it left holograms but there isnt any. chemical guys is CRAP!!!

Menzerna is amazing.
FG400 + SF4000/SF4000 + Powerlock and you're good to go. Amazing trio.

holy smokes I got my Menzerna already sucks I cant try it out I gatta go to work and its getting dark it shipped from connecticut and Im only a few hours away.. so pumped I orderd it 2 days ago!

I couldnt wait I had to go out and give it a try I am in shock I used the fg400 with a hex logic orange pad it it finished out better than anything I have ever used!

I seriously could have left it at that but I went on with the 3000 I am in such shock right now! I am going to be honest I initially wanted to start detailing as a side gig to make extra money doing something I like and after using chemical guys stuff was about to trash the idea because I couldn't get good results on my own car how can I charge someone if i cant even get my own car swirl free.
Well my confidence is restored I just spent about 3 minutes doing the wing on my ford focus and it came out MINT!! side gig confidence restored!!!!! Im the MAN

AWESOME!!! So cool to read that!!! Like I said in the previous post...ALL of my V products went into the trash!! FG400 works fast doesn't it? It finishes very well and sometimes I think you would not even need to follow up with a polish.....but when you polish....WOW!!!

So cool to see that your confidence is restored!! But now they need to start an AGO's Anonymous because of the buying addiction thing.....LOL Please show pics when you can!

I have these and HD POLISH, SPEED & POXY are my go to 1,2,3 step these days.

I am going to be evaluating the BOSS System in the near future.

I have heard great things about the BOSS system...haven't yet had a chance to compare it to the rules yet but I heard it has more torque.

I fired mine up today on speed one and turned it up six with a GG pad on it in my palm to see what would happen. Ain't no stalling that bad boy and after 3 seconds it began to heat my hand up big time! I could stall my PC and Rupes easily with my hand.

So respect the BOSS is my best advice :buffing:
