Have a 6 month feral cat that we have adopted kind of ?
She still lives at the bottom of the block but comes for food
and cuddles! All black with a white patch of fur on her chest.
That’s cool and all, but an actual feral cat would never let you touch it without you winding up in need of some bandages
I’ve met a couple of feral cats in the past. The 1st experience was when I was about 12yrs. old. Me and a friend found a litter of cats on the side of the house and tried to grab them and they freaked out and attacked us. Lol.
So plan B involved rubber gloves and a cage to trap them which we did. We were lucky to survive with minimal blood loss and decided to get revenge by treating them to something they’d surely hate… The water hose![]()
We soaked those cats and had a good laugh until they calmed down. Crazy part was that actually tamed them and when they dried up and we let them out of the cage they were all cuddles lol.
I’m pretty sure we fed them some scraps while they were in the cage but we were shocked at the change in behavior lol.
Yeah i'm not to sure about caging kittens and soaking them with water?
We have fed this one since she was born and has slowly made her way to
The house.
You will be surprised by what food can do, and love to a feral cat.
Sad to report that Toby had to be put down Tuesday night. He really was a great cat. I got him in 2005 or 2006 as a stray that walked into my sisters condo. Nobody in the area would claim him. The veterinarian office a few hundred feet from her condo development had never seen him and he wasn’t chipped. So he was stuck with me.
I’ll miss letting him ride around the house on my shoulders, he loved that almost as much as laying on the screened in porch.

Sorry for your loss. They are truly part of the family. Thanks everyone. Yeah, he was old, around 20 or so.
We aren’t sure exactly what happened, but one moment he was fine, then all of a sudden he wouldn’t put weight on one of his rear legs. He didn’t make any noises regarding it or anything. So we took him to an emergency vet right away and it turns out he had broken his leg in two places. Not sure if he jumped down off of a chair, or if it happened just walking (the vet said it was possible due to age). He was just too old to undergo surgery and I had to do the right thing. My wife, daughter, and dog are also really sad about it.
I’ve never seen a more social cat in my life. He never hid whenever we had gatherings like a lot of cats do (my sisters both have cats and they hide). Toby would lay in the middle of everyone and let all the kids pet him and play with him. If I ever get another cat, I hope it’s as friendly as Toby was.
