In keeping with the weird spelling of names in this family, his name is Faych or Faychie. Pronounced Fay-ch or Fay-Chee, there is a story behind the name.
This is Hayfy (Hay-Fee), my childhood dog, another Cocker Spaniel -
As a toddler, I couldn't pronounce Hafey properly. As toddlers tend to do, I slurred the word into something else, Faychie.
Having trouble agreeing on a name, it suddenly clicked that we should call him Faych. I'm told he has the same temperament and daggy personality as Hafey.
Cocker Spaniels are a bit harder to come by for sale or adoption. Reading the local newspaper today, something I never really bother with now, I spotted an ad for Cocker Spaniel puppies. I would dearly love to have another, perhaps a friend for an aging dog. But Faych is so clingy, I would not want to make him feel he is being moved aside. I don't want to break his heart. That might sound stupid, he's a dog not a human. Anyone who loves an animal will know that doesn't make a difference, humans bond with animals too.
