I'm stuck here, mostly...
I live in Riverside CA, not really a whole lot of detailers beyond the basic wash and vacuum thing. I want to do a full range of detailing. Honestly I don't even have a polisher yet, but I'll be getting either the Flex or the GG15 or 21 within a month. I have chemicals upon chemicals. And a good starting base of Microfibers. Also have a collection of wheel brushes & accessories. ATM I have a tiny roadster with basically zero trunk space. My angle will be Eco friendly, which is good because in So Cal the water restrictions are no joke. Right now I detail for a few friends, a few neighbors and a few people who come in where I work. They all are very happy using me. I'll plan to do everything from washing a 93 Corolla to correcting paint on a Ford GT (one day! lol) Part of me wants to have a high end sounding name, but that might run off the Corolla owner. Eventually I'd like my client base to be mostly high end jobs not basic wash & drys though. I came up with a logo, which I think looks pretty good. I'm finishing up on a tri-fold brochure which I think looks really nice, it's a play off a restaurant menu. These should help give that us that high end feel.
The name alone is what's keeping me from officially starting my detail business. While I do it for few friends and a few people who come in where I work, I don't want to promote myself to the masses without a name and some business cards. When I was younger I was very creative and probably would have came up with 50 names in a few days. But in my old age I suck lol.
Originally I came up with i4detail, my friend who's going to partner up with me seemed to really love it. I thought it was sorta catchy, I knew I had to Google it. Sure enough it was already waaaay overused. Nobody locally, but it's not original and honestly I didn't like how it looked on the business cards I designed. As far as the name goes he doesn't seem to want to get involved outside of feedback on ones I run by him.
Polished 2 Perfection - For some reason I kind of like this one. Except it doesn't exactly scream automobile detailing, don't know if average Joes would even know what the hell kind of business it was by the name alone. But my business cards will make it clear what we do. Outside of that I'm sure it's probably already used.
Rise & Shine - a play on words, which isn't even really a play on words. Seems lame to me, I've ran it by some people to get their opinions. A few really liked it. That's not saying much though lol.
Immaculate Detail - I haven't Googled this, but my Spidey senses are telling me this is definitely already used. Probably not by a local place, but it sounds too I dunno, generic?
Waxologists - Welp, sounds pretty corny and without Googling I'm sure about 100 detailers already use it. And probably 10x as many for hair salons.
I have a bunch of different shirts in my cart on Queensboro ready to go minus the logo Same with business cards. I have a pretty nice design just no name to finish it. I don't have to be 100% original here, I just don't want to straight up steal a name either, even if it's a guy in NY who I'll never meet. A name I come up with on my own and then Google to find out it exists turns me off. Unfortunately the people I've been running names by, most of them seem to be easily impressed or just overly nice.
As it stands Queensboro has about a 1 month turn around on shirts at the moment, I don't need shirts tomorrow. I do want to have them so I can advertise even when I'm not working. I do want to get my business cards ordered asap. Getting frosted plastic ones with rounded corners from a member on here who's been going back and forth with me on emails for what seems like years now lol. I have a phone # and signed up for Grasshopper to work like our PBX. Now all I need is the name and I can really start here.
AGO what say you?
