This is going to be a 2 part review, first I’m going to share my experience using DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer and then I'm going to share a separate review on DP Tire Coat.

First up, DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer:

From DP’s product page:
DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer is a heavy-duty cleaner and degreaser that safely removes unwanted browning, silicone-based tire dressings, dirt, and grime from your vehicle’s tires, leaving them squeaky clean and ready for application of DP Tire Coating. DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer deep cleans tires better than any other tire cleaner or all purpose cleaner available, and it will not cause your tires to turn brown.
DP Cleaner & Restorer instructions:

Ok lets get started!

  1. Ensure surface is cool to the touch. - CHECK
I can’t help myself, and pressure wash my tires and rims so they’d be free of loose dirt and other contaminates then dry the tires with my Metro Masterblaster:

2. Wet wheels, not tires, prior to application. - CHECK
3. Spray a liberal amount of DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer directly onto DRY tire and allow to dwell for 1-2 minutes - CHECK:

4. Scrub using a stiff-bristled brush; *wet bristles often. - CHECK We recommend using the Low Profile Tire Brush because it’s stiff and easy to hold on to - Low profile tire brush and low profile tires CHECK & CHECK:
First Scrub, brown foam galore:

Second Scrub, brush rinsed:

Third scrub brush rinsed::

Forth scrub, brush rinsed, finally starting to see white foam:

5. Thoroughly scrub the tire until all browning is removed- CHECK
6. Tires are completely cleaned when white foam is produced as you scrub.
To be 100% sure my tires are clean I decide to rinse off the tires, dry with my MasterBlaster, and then reapply DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer. White foam immediately appears:

Fifth & final scrub - all white foam now:

7. Thoroughly rinse wheels and tires, ensuring all traces of the cleaner are removed - CHECK:

8. Allow tires to dry before applying DP Tire Coating. - CHECK, hello dry naked tires:

(DP Tire Coating Review coming soon!)

Conclusion
As demonstrated, DP Tire Cleaner & Restorer worked very well at cleaning off my tires and getting them ready for dressing. DP TC&R is also easy to use and doesn’t have a harsh odor (like certain APC’s). Up to now, Tuff Shine Tire Cleaner has been my go-to product for cleaning my tires between dressing applications. It’s hard to say which product is better, since both work extremely well. A direct comparison between the two is in order, stay tuned for that write up!

*Additional comments
I’d recommend updating the instructions from “Scrub using a stiff-bristled brush; wet bristles often” to “Scrub using a stiff-bristled brush; rinse bristles with clean water often”. I say this because “wet bristles” is open to interpretation and your goal is to remove all traces of silicone residue prior to applying DP Tire Coat. If there’s any traces of silicone remaining, the coating will not adhere properly and begin to flake off. Considering there is no easy way to remove DP Tire Coat and start over… you really really don’t want to find yourself with flaking tires.

As always, I hope this review was helpful. Please feel free to ask questions.

Nice review Angus, I am really considering picking up a dedicated tire cleaner. I use an APC now but like the idea of having dedicated products for various areas on the vehicle.

Thank you, Sir! Dedicated tire cleaners like DP TC&R and Tuff Shine TC are great options. You'll not regret picking either up on your next order.

This looks good.

Well done review. I have this on the list for my next purchase, so very timely to come across this review and reaffirm my choice.

Excellent! Glad to hear it. Are you getting the DP Tire cleaning / coating kit? Or just the cleaner?

Well done review Ian with beautiful pictures to go along with it. Nice work.

Will be on the lookout for part 2.

Thanks, Mike! I appreciate the kind words :xyxthumbs:

Just the cleaner & restorer for now. I was looking for something to get the tires clean without doing any harm. I have some PB dressing I might throw on there. Maybe when some of my other dressings run out I will look at the whole kit again...

Thanks again for the review.

Never used DP TR & C but looks to be similar to Tuff Shine TC.

Used a citrus degreaser first time to just clean, no scrubbing, let dwell 1-2 mins, brown grime everywhere, power washed tires, dried, then Tuff Shine Cleaner 1-2-3-4 times till white foam appeared. Applied TS Clearcoat. Couldn't be happier. Black is Back. Looking forward to your comparison between DP + TS.

Nice review. Are you catching the residue from the DP with a tarp?

My hunch says both DP & TC are going to be dead even at cleaning tire. They're both excellent products for sure, but in term of cost TC might win out since oz per oz it's less expensive.

Nice review. Are you catching the residue from the DP with a tarp?

Thanks! And to answer your question: the tarp prevents debris from getting kicked up from my gravel drive way while pressure washing :xyxthumbs:
