I've corrected more Tesla's than anyone on the planet. And I know the paint on these cars. So usually its a repetition equals efficiency when correcting one. But this Tesla had 21k miles on it and had seen some better days... The paint was an absolute wreck! Covered in every type of defect you can imagine. I have to say I've been a little spoiled these days working on new cars that need correction work but ones that need restorations so this presented a challenge for me! I hope you enjoy this as I did this car start to finish my self and poured my blood, sweat, tears, and lost time with my 6 month old little girl over this one. Lets get on with it!

This what the condition it arrived in and it looked far worse under shop lights.

Solid black roof in equally bad shape.

7 hours of compounding the roof alone gave me these results.

The hood was another 4 hours of compounding and after I got all the water spots out, the next day a lot of them reappeared so I had compound the hood again for another 2 hours

This whole car had signs that another "detailer" if you want to call them that had attempted to buff this car

More improper use of a polisher....

And more proper use of a polish by me!

Deep scratches and swirls here...

this went on for 3 very long days but my OCD and dedication to delivering nothing but the best results I pushed hard until 1-2am most days and even pulled a straight 35 hours from tuesday/weds

Using ONR soaked paint safe towel I went around the car in this fashion

After all my compounding I had made quite a mess so at 3am I decided it would be best to wash the car and clean up the dust.

This car was so covered in defects I could only tape the trim as I had to go right up to the edge every where. But it wouldn't be OCD approved if we didn't address all this before being done!

A credit card wrapped in an proper microfiber can be your best friend for this.

50 hours... Wow! I can't even imagine.

How much did you get paid for a job like that, if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah I'm curious about that too. At $50.00 an hour that would be $2500.00

Wow. Great turn around. Crazy how bad some cars get.

Very nice turn around, what tools/compound did you use for compounding? And same question for polish

Great work Joe. Hopefully the customer will try to keep up the finish on it now.

Nice work on making the metallic blue really shine.

How bad was the interior? Or did the owner actually keep it nice?

Huge turn around on the finish. It's just a crime the way some cars are treated.

Amazing work as always Joe! That paint looks a mile deep!

Have you ever considered taping the crevices? Seems like it would save you a bit of work/time

Insane. Would love to have a car like this that someone would actually let me paint correct...

Thanks guys, and I know that taping would of helped but... This car had nasty damage right up to every line... Tape was causing me more problems then cleaning up did. As for how much I this cost I was compensated for my time ill leave it at that. Products and process were mostly 205/reflect. Occasional 3k to remove deeper stuff. But my goal was to leave as much paint in tact as possible and I barely removed anything. I could of hammered this car with something really aggressive and got done much quicker but what happens in 2 years when it looks like this again? I was just playing it safe. Thank you again for all the nice comments. Means a lot especially since I don't work on cars to often any more and this was all me.

I was going to say... Tesla paint... At least on some of those older models like mine... Has thin paint. Must have been a bit hairy at points!
