Review: Blackfire Midnight Sun Spray Wax

When I use a spray wax there are a few things I do to test them out. The biggest test and almost all spray waxes that I have used fail it. This is spraying on the spray wax on a hot (engine temperature) hood.
The 1st thing happens is STREAKING. That to me is a product failure and I usually just trash the product and use the bottle for other detailing purposes.

I will not spray in the sun as my ride is black and would never do anything in the sun with it so I will not use that as a guideline.

So I decided to test Blackfire Cranauba Spray wax with the hot hood test and I was actually thinking it would fail.

Well to my surprise it passed with FLYING COLORS. Not only did it pass the test (no streaking), this product has exceeded my expectations. The gloss it leaves after a spray and wipe is 2nd to none.

People, IMO this is one of the best spray waxes I have used. Try a bottle and see.

I am curious, what other spray waxes have passed this test? Any?

That is interesting as I beleive the instructions recommend not to use this product in direct sunlight on hot surfaces.

However, like you mentioned, I did use it under those circumstances with no issue with streaking.

I have also used the new (and old) versions of XMT Spray Wax in the sun on a hot surface with absolutely no issues whatsoever.

And while its been a long while, I do not remember ever having a problem with Megs Ultimate Spray Wax when I used it.

You would be amazed on how bad the streaking is on a hot hood or to some just a warm panel. If any product streaks I usually just do not use it. I will not name any of those products as I do not want to bad mouth any and some people's results would be completely different than mine.

BTW, I keep all of them and use any one at any time for any detail as I do not have to worry about performance. They are all excellent in my book. Additionally, I will not use these products in the sun or on a hot hood. This is just to see if these products are good enough to pass that test. There is no favorite in this category. All are my favorite.

1. Blackfire Carnauba Spray Wax and their Wet Diamond Polymer Spray

2. Polish Angel Spray Waxx, Black Wulfenite and Viking Spray you can get these on PBMG's sister site Autopia

3. Menzerna Paint Refresh QD

4. Duragloss Aquawax

That's pretty much it. I just stick to these now. All of these can be purchased on AGO or any of their sister sites. These are all awesome IMO.

I have not tried XMT so I cannot comment.

Agreed with what Kamakaz1961 said ^^
i either give them away or use on wheels & wheels well.

They need to pass the hot hood test ;)

All the spray waxes I've read the labels on say not to use in direct sunlight or on a hot surface. I understand the point of your test, but, just because it streaks when used in a way the manufacturer recommends NOT to, doesn't mean it's not a good product.

They all are excellent products and if workable on hot panel it's a big plus :D

Thats not totally true. There are several, I think UQW and XMT are two that do not advise against this, and or say its ok to use on a hot surface in direct sunlight. That is actually one thing I like about XMT is its ok to use on a hot surface in the sun as I haev little to no shade in my yard.

However, it is a testament to a product if even being used against the recommendation of the manufacturer, it still performs admirably.
