Review: Griot's Garage Boss 21 Long Throw Polisher - Comparison To Rupes 21ES

If you don't see it as a copy, then you just can't be reasoned with.

If you don't see it as NOT a copy, then you can't be reasoned with either.

Rasky, I'm not sure I understand your response. Was I supposed to see differences from the photographs? If it was, then all I can say is it still looks like a copy. Maybe this is similar to that recent picture of that dress that people could not agree on what color it was.

You're calling the Flex 3401 and MT300 copies of the Rupes now?! You serious??

RE: Copy

•Throughout the history of the Human race...
there's always been, undeniably---IMHO:
-Hella thievin' going on!

•Ever since the first time a Caveman was observed
conking a Cavewomen over the head with a broken
off piece of a Mastodon's tusk; and, then dragging
her back to: the cave that dreams were made of...
-Some of the other Cavemen, (that were watching this
initial life-change event), took a closer look at those
Cavewomen they'd chosen to nuptialate...and probably
thought to themselves:
Ugh, gonna need a bigger and better "hammer"!

•And, as far as that goes:
-Isn't the "modern" Caveman still attempting to
design that: More-Perfect-Way...to go clubbing?

Are you serious?? I guess the dumbing down of America theory has truth to it.

If you cannot see the obvious differences between the machines in Chad's pics you need to go sit in the corner with your dunce cap on..

First, I barley looked at the pictures. Obviously a 3401 and an mt300 are not copies. An dumby, as you referred to me as such showing your lack of spiritual growth, can see that. Lastly, you and auto concierge seem as if you're taking this almost personally, and getting aggressive verbally, therefore I am going to stop responding to your posts.

You are right, I am taking this personally as dishonest bias get's me going. Spiritual growth in having a dishonest bias............... it would be prudent for you not to keep digging that deep hole.

People should let the chips fall where they may and decide for themselves based upon the performance or any other factors they deem important instead some muddy the waters for no good reason and due to keep on keepin on have to be exposed.

This is an awesome review as I've been trying to decipher which of the brands to choose from. In the process of starting a part time business. Trying to soak up as much product knowledge as possible.

Thanks again!

It's nice to see someone hasn't lost sight of the terrific job and great service the OP did amidst all this bickering.

I've been looking to treat myself to an upgrade from my GG6 and will probably go with the G15 over the Rupes. If not for any other reason than my being a self-hating Italian-American.

Thank you for the kind words. I hope this review found you well and helped you.

I appreciate that Dogfather. Yeah I don't understand what's with all this hate...

Like I said before I had both machines and feel the griots improved on the rupes weak points. I sold my rupes to buy the griots because of the improvements and I'm glad I did. I loved the rupes, but there were a few things I didn't like that the griots improved on. There both great machines and u can't go wrong with either, so lets get over the copy issue. As far as price, I think the griots is priced fairly and it is a heavy build machine.

The whole "it's a copy" issue is getting very tiresome!!

Excellent Review Marc,

I have 2 questions although.

1) Which of both is quieter?

2) Which of both is less fatiguing, I mean less vibrations?

Thank you.

Thanks a lot, Alexalanis!

I think the Rupes is a tad quieter and I think this is because of the motor's wattage. I took the videos with the exact same camera setting with the same ambient conditions so I think playing the videos will help you determine which will be louder for you.

I didn't use either tool with their intended pads. Rupes takes pride in saying that the bigfoot polisher produces less vibrations when you use their pads as opposed to other brands. It's the same way with Griot's. I did the test with a pad that's neither from Rupes or Griot's so that I'm not giving any of them an advantage. With that being said, I think they're similar in terms of vibration. But I think the vibration one will feel will be less when you use the pads designed for the respective polisher. If I remember correctly, the Griot's felt heavier too.

Hope this answers your questions.

reading this now.. now the new question... Mark II 15, or boss 15!? LOL! the con of so much choice.. i cannot decide which one i want! haha

two good reasons why the G15 (or any GG polisher) would be a good choice would be the warranty and their excellent customer service...

Wow I must've missed this review..

Marc you did an outstanding job reviewing both units :dblthumb2:

:thankyousign:

Yea the warranty and price, plus you can get promotional discounts on Griots, Rupes doesn't allow discounts

Nice review!
Although the packaging is awesome, I wish it would come with a case or bag or something.

A question to those who have had a Flex and either the Griots or Rupes 21 machines:
As a whole, do you feel the corrective ability is the same?

You'll get different answers from different users on this one and it will likely be biased based on what they currently use. I've owned and used all 3 and I feel the BOSS/Rupes tools correct faster than the Flex, especially on the flat areas. However the Flex will perform better on really curved surfaces where the rotation on the others can slow or stall. Keep in my the Flex is a fixed rotation, which maxes and 480rpm's. The BOSS/Rupes tools are capable of much fast rotation.

All 3 are great tools, just pick the one that best fits your polishing style and needs.

Heh- for a couple size trucks, a mid size suv, and a couple full size cars?
No one in my family owns anything curvy:laughing:
