You Saw it HERE First - Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax!

I don't get the price point, except maybe for those consumer users who don't know any better. I use waterless products mostly as a pre-soak before rinseless, but when I have done a full waterless wash by itself it took about 10oz of product. At full list of $12 for 24oz of REady to use, its $5 a wash. Like Swanic said, Pinnacle at 32:1 water to product or the new Blackfire or UWW, the Mothers is way out there in price per oz, and isn't something that would make any sense for me to buy.

That can be said of almost any product category or even the exact same product.

Here is one example (prices pulled from a chain parts store website):
Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer - 16oz - $6.99 - $0.44 per ounce
Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer - 128oz - $28.99 - $0.23 per ounce

That's almost half the price for the exact same product in a different size.

And another (prices from AutoGeek.net):
BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash Concentrate - 16oz - $29.99 - $1.85 per ounce
BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash Concentrate - 64oz - $49.99 - $0.79 per ounce
BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash Concentrate - 128oz - $79.99 - $0.63 per ounce

Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax - 24oz - $11.99 - $0.50 per ounce
BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash - 20oz - $17.99 - $0.90 per ounce

That comes out to almost a third of the price if you buy it in a gallon container versus a typical 16oz consumer size.

I'm taking a guess that this is Mothers product to test the waters. Probably released to AG first as a test demographic to hopefully sort out any issues or start over. For this type of product, I'd say AG would be a good place to test versus a physical demographic like many businesses do.

You save when you buy in bulk. That's how companies like Costco and Sam's Club came about and still exist.

NOTE: Product examples were used because they were the first on each site I found. They were also the only products I calculated per ounce cost on. Also, the Blackfire prices are for the concentrate, not the diluted product.

EDIT: Also note that I realize the first three Blackfire products I listed are concentrated versions and the end price would be different. However, I am not going to search for the average water price per ounce and figure out what the final product would cost per ounce.

Waterless was about $250 thousand in 2014, but growing rapidly in 2015. Yes, it's a small number when you consider the entire market, but keep in mind that doesn't cover 100% of the market, and channels such as e-tail are not fully reported, so the number is bigger, but no one is certain of just how much. My WAG is about $400 thousand in total. By comparison, the top selling car wash item in 2014 sold $6.5 million

And. more importantly, the posters/users here aren't the average consumer for the category. Joe Average stops in a store twice a year and purchases a total of 5 bottle of all the products he needs to care for his vehicle during a 12 month period. The demographics on the AutoGeek type customer are miles away from the average.

I learn something new every day. I always assumed that online sales were reported the same as, well, all other sales.

I also agree that AG users aren't Average Joe.

Thank you again forrest.

The blackfire product is a concentrate to be diluted, which then lowers the price per oz. That does not seem to be factored in?

It was not done for price comparisons. It was done to illustrate my point that the less you buy, the more you pay.

However, the 16 ounce Blackfire comes out to about $0.05 an ounce once diluted (based off $0.88 for one gallon of distilled water that I pulled off Wal-Mart's website.)

Now, here was the point.

BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash - 20oz - $17.99 - $0.90 per ounce

$0.90 is 18 times the cost of the most expensive concentrate and at just under $0.02 if you buy the gallon of concentrate, 45 times the cost of the gallon of concentrate.

Mothers California Gold Waterless Wash & Wax - 24oz - $11.99 - $0.50 per ounce
BLACKFIRE Wet Diamond Waterless Wash - 20oz - $17.99 - $0.90 per ounce

Mothers is priced towards the bottom of the market for ready-to-use waterless washes and the price point is not "way out there in price per oz" as previously said.

I believe once waterless really takes off you will see it purchased in gallons since you can go through a lot.

My thinking exactly. You have to walk, before you run.

Running can be gallons or concentrates.

I've been testing it over 2 years. It's a terrific product and great for traveling.

In the old days I carried a bucket, mitts, hose, needle-nosed pliers, soap, drying towels and spray wax.

Now all I carry is Waterless Wash & Wax and some towels.

Sounds like a great product, and I will agree that this will make a great traveling option. But...

You're going to have to walk me through how the Waterless Wash & Wax replaces the needle-nosed pliers :D

The hotels remove the handle on the water spigot. Gotta have the needle nose to turn it on.......

Lol. This will be my first AGO purchase after lurking for a while. Got a 10 day trip coming up.

Just used it last night on my new Tuxedo Black SHO and couldn't be happier with it, great product. I'll have a review up in a couple of days.

Is that a foamer tip on the sprayer? Just noticed the tip of the sprayer can be pulled out. All tho not intended, bet it would make a awesome drying aid? Got mine today too. Look for a review soon. Also got the mothers syn wax. Thanks nick.

Just got mine. Thanks Nick. I also got a sample of the Synthetic Wax.
I think it's the same tip as the tire cleaner. It narrows the stream for lower profile tires.
