So I was working through my wife's 2015 Galaxy Blue WRX using one of my prized and very old pots of Zymol Carbon, and I dropped the container, cracking the mouth on the threaded area. I have it in a larger lock-n-lock container in the fridge right now, but what I would like to do is transfer it and some of my older waxes to newer, smaller containers.

Does anyone know of a source for new large mouth 2-, 4- or 8-oz wax pots or containers? I can't seem to find anything, or I'm not naming the things accurately in my Google searches.

Cheers,

Doug

I can help you. Email Zymol. I broke a wax pot from them. They asked me to send back what I have with the certificate. So, I mailed it to them.

Not sure what I was getting....

They sent me a whole new full jar of wax for free.

Woa, that's pretty cool.

Doesn't help much with my other non-Zymol products that I'd like to transfer, though. :)

I bought my Zymol stuff in 1997, so any certificates that I had with them are long gone. I remember guys breaking those plastic jars all the time back when this stuff was new. The "sampler kit' was a helluva deal when I got it. I think I got 4oz of Carbon, 4oz of Concours and 4oz of Destiny for like $90. I'm happy the jars lasted as long as they have. :) Still great stuff.

You could do a search for "8oz plastic jar", and all sorts of types come up. Uline sent me a catalog, and I believe they carried something that.

Polystyrene jar, glass jar, etc.

Thanks, I had done that but either found things in large bulk quantity or jars that weren't proportioned like the typical wax jar would be (short, fat, wide mouth). I figured there might be something wax-specific you guys here had regular access to from one of your regular sources.

I wouldn't consider myself a detailing nerd, but rather someone with detailing tendencies who could easily be inflicted with a disorder. :)

I'll keep searching.

Ok, well... I'll tell you another secret....

If you want fancy jars for wax - I can't help you. But of you want something that will work well and is cheap, go to the Dollar Store "medicine aisle" and pick up a jar of glycerin suppositories. They will cost a dollar. Throw them out - the jar they come in is perfect for wax. The suppositories come wrapped - in case you need one.

It's an 8oz (or smaller) pharmaceutical ointment jar.

I actually found this past weekend going thru old supplies, ha.

Try US Plastics, you can buy jars one at a time. They are under bottles (jar subsection) since the search isn't working there.

Oooooooh, I like that trick. I didn't even think of the dollar stores. I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning. :)

Yup, I bought mine in the late 90s when the bottles were all white and the lids on the waxes were white plastic. Crappy jars, great wax, and I love the smell. HD Cleanse was the first thing I ever used up. It worked really well before there were 1,000 products to choose from on the internet.

Heading there now, thanks for the tip!

YES! Score! This place is awesome. Holy cow, I need to stop before I have a really big bill.

They also carry chemical resistant spray bottles, which are not really easy to find. I destroy the cheap ones from the big box stores with stuff like denatured alcohol.

I found 3.5 gallon buckets in various colors, too. Ooooooooh, this is dangerous. Great prices, too.

You should PM SON1C and see if he knows where to get them. Do a search on his name. He does some wicked home-grown!

Ask Nick or call cust service at AG, I bet they could sell you some containers.

USPlastics for the win. Thanks Setec Astronomy, that was perfect. Got a dozen black dome wax containers, a few 3.5 gallon buckets, a dozen chemical resistant spray bottles and a few other garage toys. Way cheaper than an auto parts store.

Thanks guys!

Doug
