1.) Nope...
No set-in-stone "layering rules"...for any/which
particular Waxes/Sealant's...that I know of.

2.) Yes...
FK 1000P HT can be applied via DA.

I use one for that purpose; and
equip it with foam pads that are
specifically designated for LSPs.

As far as I know there are no rules, and also no guarantees that the wax you're topping with doesn't compromise the sealant layer underneath.

Having said that if you stick within the same brand then you SHOULD be safe

I will put on a sealant topped off with a wax 90% of the time. IMO it brings out more depth and wet look. The other 10% is wax by itself. jimbob said it right.

Some waxes do not do well on top of a sealant. Some waxes will ghost (haze) on top of a sealant. To me there is nothing wrong with the wax, it just doesn't react well with a sealant. That wax is better off by itself as the LSP.

Sticking with the same family (example: Menzerna Powerlock Sealant topped with Menzerna Colorlock Wax) is one way to assure no compromises.

But 90% of the time I do a sealant topped with a wax and it has done well for me.

Hey Bob--Do you use 4" pads for this?? How long does it take you to put a thin coat of FK1000p on the entire car?? I recently did my Passat Wagon with 1000 by hand--took me just under an hour -- wondering if by DA is faster??
