Blotchy hood - just waxed

Hi guys. I just finished doing a complete detail (wash, polish and wax) on my friends car. I noticed after wiping the wax off, the hood looked blotchy underneath the wax in some parts. Did I not wipe the polish off enough?

That might be the issue but it could be quite a number of other things. Try posting a picture or two.

In my experience blotchy pairn has been due to repaint, and the paint wasn't evenly laid down. More noticeable in metallic paints. Other than that I can't really think of anything else.

Car wasn't repainted. It just looks like deep wet spots beneath the wax. I didn't notice it until I pulled the car out of the garage and into the light

Sounds like wax streaking to me, frequently happens with LSP's that have a darkening effect.

Very well could be. We are all just spit-balling until we see pics.

I'd say bird poop etched stain. Just did my first detail and couldn't get that stuff off of the hood of a swirled out car.

Could have had oil on the surface before wax maybe a ipa wipe was skipped?

Here is one more spit ball. It's only on the hood? Did you think that there may be a heat difference if you started the car to move it? I know when I fire up my Mustang, the part of the hood that's above the massive plenum gets really hot. That temperature difference can change how the wax reacts on the aluminum or sheet metal.
