Headlight Restoration. Go more aggressive?

Howzit going everyone.

Please see pic below.

Started with 1000g, then 3000g wet sand with PC on foam interface pad. Followed by Megs Ultimate Compound then Ultimate Polish. After that I was still left with these little specs and scratches. Do I need to go more aggressive on the grit?
 
When working on bad lamps I start out with 600, then 800 and so on.
 
The only thing I dry sand is unfinished wood. Wet, or damp sanding really helps prevent the paper from becoming "clogged" up and useless.
 
I see some sanding marks and scratches, you may need to sand deeper to get those out. Id also use #1500 and #2000 in between the #3000.. it just buffs out easier and comes out cleaner.

But those specks look like "crazing" maybe from bulb heat and youre gonna need to sand all the way through to get em out. In other words, not worth it to chase them.
 
I did 8 set of truck head lights had to cut UV seal out . I dry sand with 150 grit on some on some 220 grit to start then 300, 400, 500, 800 all dry then 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, all wet then Abralon 3000, 4000, moist. The n polished and UV seald. Takes time but it works.

Wow that's a process. You have any pics of that headlight you did using that process?
 
I've never dry sanded a headlight, and honestly, don't think I would. The process I've used with wet sanding has been phenomenal. Just my .02
 
LD I have found how to do a way with all he sanding scratches it takes time but it works. This one lot does truck and SUV and they have the UV Seal crack and flake ing try to sand the bad spots and you take out the seal and you have to do the whole lense to make it blend.
