Hi guys and girls,

I've applied Collinite 845 a few times without issue, but this year seems to be a little different. I'm pretty sure I over-applied the stuff, and this has resulted in a "haze" on most of my car since the beginning of the summer. Yes, there are some swirls and other minor defects in the paint, but that's not what I'm talking about. There's definitely a residue-like haze as well. It seems to go away immediately after a wash, but re-appears not long afterward. Humidity in the air really seems to bring it out too.

In terms of washing, I wonder if the wax in my Meg's Ultimate wash is just making the haze worse, or at least helping it stick around...?

I've tried re-buffing a few areas; this was only a temporary fix. I've tried re-applying, then re-buffing: temporary fix. I've even taken a dab of rubbing alcohol to a small spot, but that didn't appear to take the haze away at all.

Any suggestions? I've searched the topic via google a number of times, but haven't come across anything that's worked for me. Next time I'll be sure to heed all the advice that I'm WELL aware of.... DON'T OVER APPLY THIS STUFF!! LESS IS MORE!! :dblthumb2:

Use a paint cleaner and reapply 845 thin, thin, thin.

Hmm..."paint cleaner" is a new one to me. I'll look some up.

I should also mention I tried a quick detailer, which didn't get rid of the haze either.

I would think that a good polish would take it off. If not you might try a light compound. I've used 845 for years with no problems, so not sure if the compound and polish won't work.

Well, I've had an unbuffed spot of 476S or #16 last all winter, so I guess I can believe that...although your wash could be a factor.

Oh man, I hope it doesn't take an entire compounding to get rid of this stuff!! I LOVE the product, but I'd never use it again if that was the case. Just for fear of user error - over-applying - again. lol

Thanks for the links. It didn't take long to come across a few posts from Mr. Phillips regarding his suggestions and instructions for this type of product, so I think I'm all set in that regard. Just to confirm though, would it be sufficient to use the Pinnacle or Sonus products with my red Lake Country Hydro-Tech DA pads? I really don't want to have to polish/buff the whole damn car again, but it sounds like this is much easier than polishing during a correction.

No, you won't need to compound. I'm kind of surprised the reapplication didn't straighten things out. You shouldn't even really need to do it by machine, but you can if you want.

Couple of options did you spray any silicone dressing in a aerosol can or spray bottle or coat wheel wells prior to waxing? sounds like a contamanated paint issue prior to wax. Try to take a micro wet it if you're home throw the micro in freezer ,for 15 min apply to painted surface this for me in hot and humid south fla works for me all the time.If no success wash with a high ph soap like zips re do the whole car again and clay it sounds to me when you're wiping ,you're riding contamanated paint thinking u got it all off then the situation appears I call it dye back .
