Roll Call! Who drives a MANUAL transmission?

manual forever!!

taught all my ex girlfriends how to drive stick and my future wife will def drive stick D:

My wife drives stick, always has. Look for a girl you don't have to teach, then you'll know she's the keeper lol

I work for VW, Audi, Porsche, and BMW dealers so I've driven DSG, S tronic, PDK, and BMW's DCT. I'd still take the manual.

From what I can tell, you're one of the few who can make that claim.

I have had 1 automatic out of all my cars and it felt so off. My wife even enjoys taking my car out because of the 6 spd. she wants to get into another manual someday. Maybe a vw cabriolet.

Heh.

My first car was a '76 Toyota Corona yellow wagon 5 speed. Drove that until I got a ' 91 VW Jetta 5 speed. Retired that for a `03 Honda Civic coupe 5 speed. Lastly, I upgraded to a '07 Honda Accord 5 speed.

Loved driving manuals. My wife was the same too.

Now that I have the S, there's no transmission, and honestly I can say I don't miss the manual anymore.

Been driving manual for the last 13 years here pretty much since I got my license. Don't mind it at all even in the ridiculous SoCal traffic.

MANUAL is AWESOME!

My current car is a black 1999 Camaro SS: 600hp with 6 speed (bought brand new)

Previous cars:
1995 Cobra red 5 speed
1998 Cobra white 5 speed purchased new
1998 Cobra black 5 speed purchased new
2000 WS6 RAM AIR Trans AM navy blue metallic 6 speed

Auto trans is faster for drag racing, but manual is MUCH MUCH more fun!

I've been driving manuals exclusively for 26 years, and I don't plan on going back now.

I fully acknowledge that some of the systems like what you find in Porsche and other high end sports cars provide far better performance. I drove a BMW 335 not long ago with ZF 8 speed, paddles, and faster shift programming. The shifting fast, direct, and far faster than what I could perform. I actually found myself liking it...the first time I've ever liked an auto or dual clutch set-up. But I couldn't live with it every day.

For me shifting is not about cutting tenths of a second off a lap time, it's about the act of shifting for my self and enjoying the experience. It can put a smile on my face even when driving my normal route home from work. I lived in Honolulu for two years, and it's traffic is ranked just as bad (if not worse) than LA or DC. I drove a manual there just fine. It was all that kept me sane on that rock.

I may just be old fashion, but I like a break from technology. Probably why I wear mechanical watches and still spend a Sunday afternoon reading an actual physical newspaper on my back porch.

My first Chevy SSR was a auto but I quickly learned that they had made a handful of 6 speeds (2213 between 2005&2006). I upgraded and it is now my garage queen.

Our DDs are both autos and I'm ok with that. Traffic in a manual gets old quickly.

My first 6 cars were manuals. The last 4 have been autos. I don't mind shifting, but I'm not going to discount a car I want because of the transmission. If/when I get a second car (weekend cruiser), it'll probably be a manual, but that won't be a deal breaker.

Previous: '04 RSX Type-S (6 speed)
Current: '16 GTI (6 speed)

Wife's Car: '09 Jetta (5 speed)

2011 Wrx

Before that was 2004 mazda3 and 2000 Ford Focus , all manual!
Ditto here, girlfriend wants to learn but havnt taught her yet

YES!! 2009 Acura TSX 6MT.

It kills me that Honda has one of the best 6MTs on the planet, and absolutely refuses to put it in an Acura now. It's sad. To me, it's not about who is the fastest. Its about rowing my own...

I have 135,000 amazing miles on this car. It's still as fun today as the day I bought it.

To me it is a direct correlation of the continued downfall of the American, that needs to be on the phone, eating, reading, shaving, etc., instead of driving.

I guess being lazy sells more cars.

I will continue to drive manuals as long as I can find them.
