2008 Malibu has 132K New England miles on it. A daily commuter between NH and Boston for a lot of years in the worst traffic, worst weather, you name it. While it would have been easier to pull the bc, sand and respray, I opted to do a less than body shop repair. Is the end result perfect? No. I wasn't expecting perfection, but it did come out better than I had expected.

I probably could have gone with 1500 grit first, but decided to remain conservative.

Process: Wet sanded with 2000, then 3000, M105, M205 and Dr. Colorchip
Enjoy!

that looks great!!!!....my bumper is very similar to that, if not worse.... I wish I had the skill/confidence to pull something like that off

WOW! My Lexus hood and bumper is similar...I have been contemplating buying Dr Color Chip...I might pull the trigger.

Congrats!

I have the same issue with my black lexus. The bumper looks like it has been sand blasted. It just kills me to look at it after i detail the car and have to look at that bumper.I didnt think wet sanding would help but maybe i will give it a try. thanks for sharing

With the wetsanding, did you apply a coating afterwards?

I wet sanded so that all the craters would flatten down and quickly remove a top layer of clear. I used 105/205 to put gloss back, then used the squeegee technique with the dr colorchip. The SealAct removed the excess, while keeping paint in all the dings.

Practice all the steps on test spot first so you can judge the end results, as well as how much time and effort is required.

Thanks! I offer Dr Colorchip to my clients, and they have been happy with the results. I love projects like this so I can get better at the various techniques of application.

Great thing about dr colorchip is you can't make a mistake. If you don't like how one technique turned out, you can remove it and start over.

Now that you have the kit; are you ordering the 1/2oz paint from Dr. Colorchip when you do customer cars?

Is the Squirt and Squeeze paint a different formulation?

Yes, 1/2 Oz. If you order a full oz, you'll have a lot left over. I would suggest ordering the 4oz sealact, cloths, and brushes.

Squirt and squeegee kit is same paint, but comes with squeegee's. The paint bottles have cap with a dropper whole on top.

This was on a custy's car using combination of squeegee and dab & smear.

I wear these when doing isolated rock chip repair (dab and smear). They help!

Just remember, Dr. Colorchip isn't a body shop in a bottle. It's designed to give a nice appearance from 2 to 3 feet away so your eyes don't go right to the chips and road rash.
