I am very sorry to hear that! I met him in Baltimore at the world of wheels. A very nice man. Rest in peace

While I couldn't agree with his taste on many of his creations, the man certainly was largely responsible for making the Kustom Kar industry what it is today. Without George, we'd probably never know of people like Chip Foose, Rick Dore, Dave Kindig etc.

RIP George!

I credit the "King of the Kustomizers", along with
his model car kits (offered by Revell and several
other hobby manufacturers), for sparking my
interest in the custom car culture back in the 1950s.

>>>R.I.P., good Sir<<<

:iagree: It was fun building all his models when I was a kid! RIP and God Bless him and his family!

The Bat Mobile, The Munster Mobile and many others...mine was in the late 60's to early 70's

A true icon of the industry, and a nice man to boot.

It's sad to loose the man that completely popularized building custom cars.

George Barris inspired millions including me. I use to run home from grade school as fast as I could to try to get home in time to watch Batman and the Green Hornet in part because the cars were so cool.

A few years ago I was able to buff out Nate Truman's 1966 Batmobile, a true and accurate recreation of the original including the body being made from the original molds from the guy that owns the molds in Canada.

Knowing how much of an impact George Barris had on me and the car hobby world wide I've always considered buffing out Nate's Batmobile as a true pinnacle in my repertoire of cars I've buffed out in my lifetime.

Let's all keep his family and friends in our prayers as they go through this time of grieving but lets also remember the powerful and positive effect he had in his life and will continue to have into the future.

:)
