Is there a mechanical advantage to applying wax or sealant?

using the DA will help insure you push the LSP into the paint more evenly across the whole diameter of the pad...

•IMHO:
The actual purpose of a machine...
(in this case: a polisher)...
is to create a mechanical advantage.

•Simply put:
-Mechanical advantage (MA) means that the
output of the machine is greater than the input.
-That is to say:
MA is the output divided by the input.

•Then...consider:
"The Law of Conservation of Energy".
-It requires that when you gain a mechanical
advantage, it will cost you in another factor.

•Next to consider:
-There are three types of MAs:
Force; Distance; and Speed.

•I'll conclude by saying that:
If, by using a polisher to apply LSPs,
-the task of covering all of the desired
vehicle surfaces is completed at a faster
rate and with less force/(effort) than by hand...
-An MA has been obtained.

In other words:
Speed MA = Distance MA = 1/Force MA.

Okay... That's 2 votes for the gold LC flat pads. I can't find gold LC flat pads in the AG Store. Am I missing something?

Sure enough, i just looked for them too and the only ones i found was a 5.5" CCS pad and a 7" Kompressor. I bought mine well over a year ago and they were the 5.5" FLAT gold foam. Looks like either AG doesn't stock them or LC doesn't produce them anymore.

Isn't the gold pad fairly aggressive? (at least that's what I'm thinking). If so, would that be used with a polish for paint correction vs LSPs? If I'm confused....... just do like my ex-wife........ ignore me :)

Lol!

Nah, you're thinking of the yellow. The gold is a 100 ppi pad soft pad.

The yellow one is the most aggressive in the flat, and ccs range - as of now. I hear that they will be making flats and ccs available in the purple Kompressor foam, which is crazy aggressive, like the blue Rupes foam pad.
