Car Pro Essence Reviewed! 6 Months of Testing by OCDetail

The same could be said for the chemists who designed Essence, who also "understand chemistry more than any of us by an exponential factor". They have already said they believe it "should" be compatible with other coatings, but they haven't tested it either.

i didn't see that. btw, you spoke to the Asian chemists? or was that message from one of the marketers like Avi or Corey?

listen, i want it to work. i think the idea of Essence is awesome. but, since i use OPT coatings and saw that this dude Yvan already nixed the idea, i had to ask the Dr. and that's what he said.

that autopia test is cool, but if a coating is designed to last three years and lasts eight months or a year, then that's quite a fall in performance but might be hard (impossible) to detect without waiting eight months to see. i doubt Essence is going to make a coating fail in a couple weeks or months lol

:bump:

Any video's or further testing been completed? What have people found to be the best pad and application process?

why, oh why did I have to stumble on this thread and read it, ive been considering essence but now, my mouse is wondering around on the store front page hovering around the add to cart button...

Cruz did you ever end up buying this?

If you didn’t...do it now!

When I first saw this post, I thought to myself, “THERE IS NO WAY THE GLOSS ON ALL THOSE CARS CAN LOOK JAW DROPPING!”

I was about to post a mini review, but OP I will coat-tail this thread:

(Pictures coming soon)

I had the exact same reaction as OP using this for the first time on a 2015 Black Range Rover...WOW! WOW! WOW!

I called up Carpro-US right away and asked “Is it THAT possible to achieve very satisfying results in just 2-3 passes alone—using Rupes 21 MK II AND a Rupes Yellow pad?”

They said, “When used properly, ABSOLUTELY!”

I wanted to cry with the results I was seeing. Unfortunately, my client was not home to see the final results.

Wish I tried this earlier in life. It saved me so much time. Plus I topped it off with Reload.

Oh yeah, a few more things:

1) This stuff wipes off like a DREAM!
2) The initial slickness (without topping with Reload is REALLY GOOD!
3) Topped with Reload enhanced everything IMO.

In addition to the exterior, I did a complete interior also—all in 7 hours.

Not bad considering my exterior prep took me longer than I wanted (1 1/2 hours).

Anyone ever tried:

Essence + Reload + PA High Gloss?
Or
Essence + PBL Synergy + PA High Gloss?

(I’m not a true coating guy but we all like gloss)

I am with you on Essence, pretty amazing products. Once you understand it's not a normal polish and start using it like a permanent glaze, it really shines! If you try to work it like a polish it becomes so hard to remove you will want to kill yourself. Took me 3 cars to switch method, hating every single one of them... but now, I think this is the best thing since sliced bread ;)

I use a finishing pad or light polishing pad to apply it. I do 2 or 3 quick passes using speed 3 on my Rupes ES21, then wipe off. Works like a charm and makes the paint shine like there is no tomorrow.

Excellent write up!! Can't wait to get mine and try it out and also see how you use it in your video. Thanks for the write up and great pics! Looks like a winner.

Just curious did you try it with an Xtra Cut MF pad?

In my experience, you should not be using essence to try to remove defects. If you want to remove defects, do a compounding step first, then apply Essence as a Glaze on top. A good combo is Meguiars D300 and Essence. D300 finishes like a polish, My gloss meter has given me readings of 100 GU after D300, and that is a good as your typical polish will give you. Only M205 was able to go higher for me at a rating of 107 GU on the same car.

Does AG still sell essence? Checked the store...nothing.

Just have essence plus listed.

Did CarPro stopped making this?

Tom

It’s there, about halfway down the CarPro page.

Maybe I'll go at it again with a different pad or two and see how I come up with

I didn't at first but just gave it another go like 15 mins ago and reduced my pressure and passes, also used a black finishing pad. Wiped off with reload and the gloss was pretty incredible.

I did my black super duty with reflect and the CP flash pad and followed it with essence on the CP gloss pad then topped with reload. Very impressive!
