Initial Impression: Wolfgang Über Ceramic Coating

I want to keep this as short and sweet as possible. This is not a full on review, just a quick initial impression.

I was asked to work my magic on this hood that was painted blue, white vinyl applied, and cleared over. I noticed some dirt inclusions in the paint with a good bit of orange peel. My goal was to remove the dirt, moderately level the peel, and polish to a high gloss and coat with the new Über Ceramic Paint Coating.

The hood was first wiped down with Menzerna Top Inspection to remove dust, fingerprints, etc. Then the dirt was cut from the paint in the accessible areas with a 3K trizact sanding disc via G110v2. Sanding marks compounded out with PE14, Hybrid wool, Menzerna SC300. Re-polished with PE14, white Hybrid, SF4000. Jeweled with PE14, black Hybrid, SF4500. Finally the paint was wiped down twice with the new Wolfgang Perfekt Finish paint prep. 2 thick coats of Wolfgang Über Ceramic Coating applied.

Full review to come.

Looks brand new. Thanks for this intuitive walkthrough,

We are looking forward to hear your thoughts regarding coating application.

Keep on, Michael!

Regards.

Um.."work your magic"? I'd say so!! Looks amazing:dblthumb2:

A couple of questions regarding the new W-UCC:

Q1: does it impart glossiness or does it darken the paint?
Q2: slickness - would you characterize it as super high, high or med/low?
Q3: beading - many small tight beads or larger beading?

TIA!

Thanks Chet!!!

A1. Yes on both accounts.
A2. High.
A3. As this hood will be displayed on a wall I can't answer that.

What techniques do you use to apply a "thick coat"?

First applied a thin coat and buffed with mf. While surface was still tacky, returned with a second heavier coat moments later, buffed, and let dry.

That'll be the best looking thing hanging on that wall! Nice complete job...sand to finish.

First off, great job.
I see most of the reviews do not require a wash after compounding/paint correction.
1. Are there any benefits to washing or does the paint prep do it all?
2. Can the coating be layered or is it just like OPTICOAT. One coat and thats it?

Yes sir! Thanks. :dblthumb2:

Thank you good sir.

1. Are there any benefits to washing or does the paint prep do it all?

If you were to compound with a product that dusts, or experience more dusting than normal you would benefit from a rinseless wash to help remove accumulated dust. Otherwise Perfekt Finish Paint Prep will be all that's needed. If concerned, a second wipe down will ensure a clean panel.

2. Can the coating be layered or is it just like OPTICOAT. One coat and thats it?

Yes can be layered. Just catch it in time during its cure time.
