Those annoying swirl marks on my VINYL stripes

Wow, great timing on this thread. The vinyl stripes on my 2004 mach 1 I just purchased have these swirls as well. I'm in the middle of paint correction so I figured I would try to find out this exact question.

I used a white hex logic pad and my pc with some mezerna medium cut polish and it actually shined them up quite a bit. But I didn't know if there was any way to get scratches out, because I did not notice any come out with my method, only enhanced gloss by 200%. Wasn't going any more aggressive until looking on here for advice.

Stinks there is no way to fully remove them.

Again, thanks for the thread

Trevor

Trevor, Are you tempted to try Mikes suggested method and products to see if your able to lessen the swirls somewhat? Much milder products.

Maybe another time but I am satisfied with what I did. Maybe on a customer's car in the future. Seeings how there is no way to buy new vinyl for my car it will have to do for now. Heck maybe even a glaze would do something.

Tomorrow i will try a tiny tiny test spot! Haha.

For arguement sake I think those stripes are cleared over them, there is textured orange peel,go to a body guy he will see it.

At this point in time...I still say:
No...this graphic does not get cleared-over
at the BG-assembly plant's paint kitchen.

I'm surely not a paint expert, and I wonder about the obviously orange peel I see on my black stripe. I was told by a couple people who have the same stripe on their Vettes that this is no clear coat over it. But if that's true that leaves the bare vinyl stripe orange peel looking on its own. Orange peel is a condition found on some painted surfaces, but as far as I know not found on a vinyl stripe...yes/no...???

The graphic was applied on top
of a ClearCoat paint-film, that was
loaded down with orange peel.

That will affect the graphic's appearance.

Ahh ok now I understand what was meant. On my hood the Crystal red paint immediately adjacent to the black vinyl stripe is ultra smooth. Perhaps the previous owner had any orange peel worked out leaving the Vinyl untouched.
