Question about microfibers not absorbing water and how to measure car soap

See this is why I ask questions. Because I want to do it right. Thanks guys. I'm going to the dollar store right now to pick up that Tide Free and Clear stuff and do another wash for the towels.

By the way, I haven't dealt with a very dirty vehicle yet. The towels and my mits are all clean looking, so I haven't been rubbing "very dirty" MF's over my car.
 
I just washed a load of over 35 microfiber towels/mitts/waffle weaves a couple days ago. Just before tossing them into the dryer I pulled out 2-3 dryer sheets and thought it was clear.. But when I pulled my towels out of the dryer there was 1 leftover dryer sheet mixed in with my towels. Grr..

I'm still not sure if I should re wash them all or just let them be. They're mostly Costco towels so I'm hesitant to wash them again if it's unnecessary.
 
Yea it's like a kick in the back. Damn you little dryer sheet. Lol.

Time for the beat-nings to begin! ;) New linens on the back porch for the wife and she'll stop doing that. :D

JUST KIDDING...... OTOH..... CarMomma got me one time, with a solid fabric softener thing that was MOUNTED inside the dryer!!!!! Thank GOD it was just my cheap throw away Costco and odd ball towels. Ended up washing them twice more, pre-soaking in APC and using WG microfiber detergent (and vinegar).

I pulled that thing out and threw it away! And her.... she's not even THOUGHT about using one again.
Of course she doesn't come anywhere near my microfibers either. (She can't stand to touch microfiber, good for me.) :)

You'd imagine after pulling out the 3 dryer sheets what a nice proud smile you'd have on your face on the way to the trash can.. Like "yea I'm so smart because I just prevented complete annihilation of all my precious microfiber towels"

And then you find 1 more stinkin sheet after their all done. Lol.

It's funny because I kept obsessively touching the towels long after they'd come out while in my laundry bag, and the only ones that had a bit of static cling electricity to them were my new batch of Costco towels. My A batch of Supreme Shines had zero static coming off them and neither do my waffle weaves. I'm assuming it's because they've been washed so many times? Well that's what I've agreed to believe at least..
 
If you're using cheap towels they probably have a really high polyester content and not enough polyamide. That will also decrease absorbency.
 
The only towels I've ever experienced loss of absorbency on was a batch of towels that I bought from Oreillys. Those were my very 1st microfiber towels. I still have them folded there, but they're pretty much useless.
 
FWIW... I take my OCD to a completely different level with my towel collection when it comes to washing and drying.

First things first.
Prewash a load of bath towels on hot, extra rinse, no softener. Do that just to flush out the washer.

Only THEN will I load microfibers in the washer.

Then after I dry the bath towels in the dryer, no fabric softener sheets there AT ALL I'll take a 50% alcohol solution and spray down the inside of the dryer and wipe it down. Gotta' say... it gets a bit 'funky' in there! :laughing: Getting good at holding my breath makes it easier. ;)

(I've actually been known to wipe down the washer too with that alcohol solution... like that's going to do any good, considering I'm only getting the basket, not the 'tub'.) :rolleyes:

ORRRRRR.... fanning out the dryer to get the alcohol fumes dispersed so as not to have it ignite to a ball of fire with all those fumes in it? :laughing:

I run a vinegar load on hot to help eliminate any residues, lint, and cat hair.... cat hair...

I do enjoy the company of the cats, but the hair shed would leave one to think they're balding.

Lol. My cat loves microfiber so much that I bought her her own microfiber beach towel to lay on. But then again her shedding isn't too bad because she's on a premium wet food diet:)
 
Steam should not be used as the heat will damage mf. Likewise dryer set to hot. Use hot, wash cycle, normally domestic hot water is 120F or below, so as to limit liability, regarding scalding. This known DHW setting 120F or less, allows MF mfg's to safely, say use hot water.

I've run tests using:

1. Wolfgang MF wash, nothing else.

2. All Free & Clear + vinegar rinse.

Both tests used hot water, the MF's consisted of new & old, all (both tests) matched brands of MF's.

I had friends & wifey, judge feel & softness. They did not know, which wash, the MF's came from. I thought it was important for the wife to judge, as women are more in sync, about softness & feel.

Judging ~30+ MF's same type to same type MF. Resulted in basically no difference.

I've stopped using the dryer, bought a cheap drying rack, & hang them to dry.

Often times I will soak MF's in the sink (garage), with a little DAWN, before washing.

After Wolfgang is gone, I'll most likely just use All Free + vinegar.

Always wash newer black, orange, and red colored towels separately from lighter colored towels to avoid any risk of bleeding

- SORT Microfiber Towels Similar To Your Regular Laundry Process: DON'T Wash Brightly Colored (Red, Orange) or Black Towels with Lightly Colored (Light Blue, Yellow) or White Towels as Bleeding May Occur with Newer Towels
- ADVICE: Keep used/dirty microfiber towels in a seperate bin from your regular laundry to reduce the risk of accidentally damaging your valuable microfiber by washing them together

We just lost our cat last week, she was 11 years old. She just stopped eating and drinking and literally lived off of her body fat for darn near 3 weeks. :(

It was really hard to watch and she was really lovable there at the end but the Vet wouldn't put her down (without doing hundreds of dollars worth of tests on her) and it just didn't make sense.

BTW... she was about 19 pounds at one time then she was about 17 or so pounds when she got sick and probably somewhere between 9 and 10 there at the end.

CarMomma said we're not going to get another one (Thank God) cause that will be 8 now in the 40 years that I've known her. So yeah we're not going to have to worry about cat hair, and a darned CAT BOX anymore. YEEESSSSS

But I do miss my bear kitty she was like a little miniature bear... big old fat bear that was so soft... and never messed with anyone. But you know life goes on.
