Products for detailing black paint

By hand I would clay then use prima amigo at that point use your beauty wax of choice (meaning non cleaner wax)

So go with a pre wax cleanser as opposed to the polish? And even though the prima has a glaze in it already could I go over that with Poorboys black hole glaze? Trust me id love to have a machine but just not in the funds at the moment

If you use amigo, you wouldn't likely need pb black hole. Both will fill and hide light swirls. Amigo also has some abrasives in it to actually remove some light defects. Both get great reviews, do either would likely serve you well. There's a few comparisons gloating around.

My steps doing what you're attempting would look about like this.

Wash
Clay
Glaze (blackhole or amigo)
Wax or sealant (I'm a Collinite fan)
Look at my awesome truck

Ok seems easy enough thank you for that more simplified answer I'm probably gonna go with the black hole then in this case now do you recommend a fine clay bar for black?

I recently tried griots garage clay for paint. Stuff worked great and I had zero marring on my black paint. I used some QD for lube, I had laying around.

What brand of detailer did you use? I'd really like to end up with zero marring because I don't have a machine to polish after

Not sure? I think I ended up using my Zaino Z6 that never gets used. I just use whatever I have sitting around. A nice sudsy soap mix works well too. Don't worry that much about a brand name, just keep it nice and wet, well lubricated and you'll be fine.

Ok shouldn't be too hard I was looking at chemical guys fine clay with there clay luber but will look into the griots I appreciate your input many thanks

Oh I'm aware of the m26 and it's great stuff from a what I've read I just can't put down my 845 love the stuff 2 coats does the trick for about a year and looks pretty good doing it

I personally never had a problem with the blue clay magic bars either for marring, been using them for 20 years since I first saw an ad in a catalog.

Black hole will work fine I just thought for me amigo works better but surely it will be ok.

most detail sprays will work for a clay lube. Many like to clay while they are washing just dunk the clay in the soap bucket while the car is wet and soapy. In a distant memory I don't recall off hand but some soaps may have broken down the clay quicker IIRC. Sounds strange but I do remember that happening year ago I don't do conventional bucket washes often anymore so I can't recall what soap it was.

So would you recommend soap and water (I currently have mothers wash and wax) as opposed to a quick detailer or could you work in a combination of both?

Soap and water has always been a step saver to me. As long as you have good lube but a $4 bottle of meguiars maroon quick detailed works great too.
