Newb Detailing Advice. Where to start?

Ok so I'll throw the spray sealant out. Should I wash my car with light dish detergent before I clay to get all previous wax/oils off then clay bar, then wash again with a good car soap. Or should I use a car shampoo? Or are those the same thing

It's been pretty much shown that no water based wash product (Dawn, CG Citrus, etc) remove LSPs so if you really want to remove any previous wax or sealant perhaps something like Sonax paint cleaner would be in order. You can apply it by hand.

Thanks. Ok so you think maybe just do the glaze, jet seal, and is there anything that I could top the JS with to give some extra shine, but hold up in FL.

I'm in Sunny, hot, and more sun Melbourne Beach. Where it's like 87f outside right now.

Skip the Glaze and put JS directly on your clean paint. It also has excellent gloss. Nuba would be a waste of time but if your dead set on it Pete's 53 is a great wax for the money. Put it on top of the JS.

Skip the glaze IMO glaze interferes with the life span of wax and sealant.

Even tho your paint looks good and 2013 I'm more then 100% sure it has defects in it, however that is up to you if you can live with them or not.

I would wash clay then jet seal and wax.

But to Polish out all the carbon build up on the back hatch (that even clay won't remove 100%)

I would buy a da polisher from harbor freight 47$ order some pads and a polish.

So these are the steps.

1. Wash
2.Clay
3. Polish
4. Wash
5. Jet seal (2 coats)
6. Wax

The wax you use its up to you.

Jet seal + meguiars ultimate wax (over the counter wal mart)

Has lasted over 9 months for me and still going strong.

Only reason why Im hesitant on polishing is I have heard you can do way more harm than good if you accidentally mess up using the DA.
