This vehicle came to us with 80,000 miles. The owner was very apprehensive to pay such a large amount as he was convinced the paint was unrecoverable. I did a small test spot for him on the hood, and he was sold.

We performed a waterless wash inside and used our Dupray Carmen on everything else.

This was the mildest damage I could find a picture of

We chose Backfire SRC Compound and Polish for this hard German paint, with a G21 non-foam lined microfiber. The backfire is quite similar to Menzerna except I feel it wipes off easier.

Heres what we needed to replicate on the entire vehicle

Tight spots were handled easily by the Flex PE8 my favorite tool.

The Backfire SRC Compound finishes MINT.

Some of our tools...and we chose Optimum Gloss Coat.

As you'll see, the results are quite good.

Total hours 18.

As always thanks for viewing, comments always appreciated.

After that great save what were the paint thickness readings that you normally perform coming in at? I am still scared to go to aggressive because I am inexperienced and have not purchased a thickness gauge. I figured some light rids are better than removing too much clear.

So, each car is very different. You have to know the different paint systems to really utilize PTG to its fullest potential. I like to go into the dealerships and get baseline numbers for different cars. This helps give a baseline of what the numbers are from the factory.

For instance, this Mercedes came in at 94.8-132 depending upon the spot. Notoriously Mercedes for whatever reason is cheap on the paint thickness on the front hoods...don't ask me why, I have no idea, but good info nonetheless.

Honestly, unless you are going to spot compound with a heavy cut compound , it's nearly impossible to blow through the clear coat with a DA. I find that a newbee is best learning on a Flex 3401. It's a simple machine to use and the results are fantastic. Not to mention the Flex is very safe and its forced osilatng. You won't have to worry about stalling.

Incredible work! Looks like new again. Gotta love how test spots seal the deal with unsure customers :)
