Hello everyone. I've been planning on opening up a side mobile detailing buissness. I have been slowing building up buissness while gaining clients and what not while still at other job. Now that I am close.

I've been looking between Griots the boss 21 mm orbital or the new Rupes mark ii 21 mm. I know griots the boss has a 900 watt motor and rupes has 500. They both seem like outstanding tools but from I know power isn't everything it's how the tool performs.I have used multiple different orbital/buffers but I'm looking at what tool would do the best work at a faster rate. I've heard rupes works well on panels where the boss slows down but both really well built tools. If anyone can help me with this it will be well appreciated. Thanks

HAPPY DETAILS

They are both great tools that will both get the job done. You cant go wrong with either...

There's a few people who have both, but other than that, it seems to be which brand you like more/hate the least.

The Rupes people say Griots weren't the first with a 21mm orbit and therefore sucks.
The Griots people say the Boss has improved upon the MkI and the MkII was in response the the G21 being better.

Honestly, choose whichever color or warranty you prefer, and rest assured that either way, you will be getting a quality machine.

So true - so true :xyxthumbs:

no one has done a head to head with the Rupes markvIIvand G21 yet

G21 (larger panels) + GG6 (everything else) = :dblthumb2:

Griots has an excellent reputation for quality, but I prefer to stick with the company that perfected large throw machines, Rupes!

Yea I'm leaning towards the new Rupes as well. I've watched multiple videos today and from what I've seen it look like griots kind of still slows down on the ridges and curves a bit but when I Watched ammo nyc trip to rupes factory and with a 500 watt motor looks like it has little bit more perfection and handling in curved panels than the boss. I've hard nothing but good about rupes. Just people talking down on it about power but performance looks well.

I've got both but lean towards the Griots more often. It's essentially Coke vs Pepsi. Different strokes for different folks.

One of my buddy's uses the new rupes uhs one step polish and 7 in pad with his boss and looks amazing thanks for all you help. So confused now lol.

From what I've seen/heard the boss is a great tool worth fast work time and some of the best abrasive technology. Here's a picture with g15 results on a ferrari.

No my buddy uses new rupes polish system with his boss.but haven't able to get on it because he lives in la. I have never used a rupes or boss . Just makita, dewalt, and flex. Looking to upgrade for new buissness some of my clients pacificly just want me to use orbital buffers. So looking between rupes and boss for my arsenal.

Wait, as long as the end product is up to snuff, why do your customers care what tool you use? As long as you are being safe and using common sense, of course

I understand how you feel. Basically alot of the clients cars I do are big car enthusiast or people with high end cars and I give them the choice to choose from different types of products. Some of my client prefer using certain types of waxes/sealants, and some of them are just really picky and nervous because they burn threw paint. We did a 458 italia for concours d elegance of pebble beach and client wanted it all done by Hand, when like you said you can achieve the same results faster and as long as I am safe and careful which I am always . I'm with you but if it makes my client happy then I guess I have to go the extra mile.

Ummm, being that the mark 2 and the Boss are more on the same level it's just prefrence , the Boss trumped the old Rupes, I have no experience with the mark 2 yet, but you really can't go wrong with either.

HOWEVER the Boss polishers are currently on sale as rupes polishers don't go on sale only if you get discounted certificates.

There's a sweet deal with pads and microfiber for 399! Like 100 off

They even have the G21 and g15 kit for a crazy insane price of 799 jesus.

I ordered my G21 kit for 600 and laugh at the fact that I could of got another g15 polisher and all the pads and 6 microfiber towels for another 200$

Not to mention if you bought gift certificates 150 for 200.

So you could of got that kit for 600$ for 800 worth the certificates that is absolutely insane.

When autogeek piles those deals it gets mouth watering how crazy that is.

That's seriously almost 50% off the 1,100 markup.

Crazyyyy

I'm in same boat as OP, trying to decide between the two. Is the above quote supposed to be links? If so they aren't working on my iPad or Mac, and I would like to see reviews like that.

On the sister site, marc08ex did a great review of boss vs rupes first gen, but I'd love to see MkII vs Boss, given some current sale offers coupled with gift certificates. I've used a MkII briefly and was much more impressed with it than the first gen, but haven't used a Boss.

No it is not. From what I've heard is that no one has tested them equally side by side just people post about one or the other. Honestly it's so hard to choose between the too. Both kits I'm sure get the same results but like people have been saying it more preference than what's better. Griots is 900 watt were the rupes is 500 and looks like it has better rotation in curved panels. Mike Phillips has a thread up already about both rupes mark ii and the boss. The both look equal.

Italy vrs. China

That statement doesn't mean ####
Have you checked out streamers
Just about everything comes out of Italy and allot of them are junk

It's all about quality control
Theres plenty of quality products that cone out of China..its just China is most used due to being cheapest...so its a given they tend to come out with the most crap
