Looking for an "all in one"...

Re: Looking for an "all in one"...

the KEY word he used was "by hand"

Hand polishing isn't easy as it will just get you some gloss, but you will have to work for it.

My recommendation? Is chemical guys BLACKLIGHT, it is a gloss enhancing glaze that has some sealant protection in it as well, and that fits the bill perfect for what you are looking for.

It is a glaze/sealant so it will hide imperfections and fill them in and make your paint shine more and reflect better.

It isn't a cure all fix, but for a hand application this is probably one of your better bets.

Here is a video showing what it can do and how it "fills"

Again nothing will beat machine polishing, but if your going to apply by hand this is the route I would go

(Quick tip) if you do apply Blacklight, I would top it would a wax or sealant to try to lock in the fillers to make your car appearance from the Blacklight last longer.

Thanks, the "by hand" part was really important. I looked up all the products that were recommended by everyone and although they all seem great almost all the reviews and videos showed them being applied and taken off w a machine. I'm not there yet.. Hopefully have a DA within the next 2 months so I can really start detailing. Already have and hood in the storage shed waiting for me to start practicing on when I get the DA

CaptN D,

According to your criteria there is no reason Griot's One Step Sealant wouldn't work fine for you. It would also provide a 'starting point' for determining your next course of action and how to go about altering and improving the method of protecting the paint finish.

I saw that Griots has The One-step Sealant as well, anyone use that? (saw it a auto zone is why I ask, readily available to me)

I don't think this question was ever answered.

I've used it in the past, but with a DA. It has a good level of abrasives and looks really good once applied. However, it only lasts about 6~8 weeks in mild weather. Like others have said, I'm not sure you'd get the full potential with a hand application.

Also consider that AIO's are pretty short lived. I've not tried HD Speed, but all the other's I've used only seem to last a month or two.

Looking for an "all in one"...

I'm getting a ton of info and it's almost overload. Lol from what I've read and if I'm understanding correctly an AIO MAY NOT BE MY BEST OPTION since my car is only 4 months old and garage kept when I'm not work all I really need is a good sealant followed by a wax since my paint is in great shape and correction isn't necessary right now. I'm looking forward to getting a DA (Rupes I think, a little on the expensive side but I'd rather get one that's gonna last me rather than having to upgrade down the road) really appreciate everyone chiming in

You might be surprised the difference you'd see if you hit your car with a mild polish.

When I took delivery of my black GTI, the dealer didn't do any prep work on the exterior as I requested. Under most lighting it looked really good. Once I started taking a really close look, I could see some fine swirls and other minor marks from the production/shipping process. A little love from a DA and a good polish produced an amazing shine which made the car look better than brand new.

Once you have your desired supplies and equipment on hand, it may be worth your while to give it the full "spa" treatment to get it looking it the absolute best.

Frankly I don't see the two steps as necessary. I'm from SA originally and a wax (other than Collinite) just won't hold up for very long.

I suggest that you wash & clay the car then apply this:

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant delivers a deep, wet, liquid shimmer unlike anything you can imagine.

No, it's not cheap but it gives you the best of both worlds.....an excellent sealant with the depth/look of carnauba. It's a cinch to use by hand providing you apply it thin and don't slather it all over the surface. It will also last you a very long time through many many applications.

:iagree:

Welcome and congrats on your new ride.

I also have an ST 2014 performance blue, I have applied WGDPGS and it is very easy to use and the shine is amazing.

What do you guys think of Essence? Would it fit the bill?

There are cautions in the CarPro-us FAQ regarding application by hand.

I believe they are alluding to the need for the heat generated by the pad/machine for the product to work optimally.

I missed the part where he was looking to apply by hand..

Don't feel bad, a lot of folks seem to miss that part! Lol makes me want to get a DA that much sooner! The amount of products definitely open up when your not trying to apply by hand!

'Til your DA does arrive...
Try one of these easy to use Meguiar's AIOs:
-ColorX
-M66 Quick Detailer
-M20 Polymer Sealant
-A12 Cleaner/Wax
-Black Wax
-White Wax

Bob

M06 is nice in that application too!

Personally, I'm very impressed with Meguiar's "White Wax" for hand application.

Has good correction ability and seems to have some decent long lasting factors.

By hand I have used CG Top Coat Sealant with Carnub. It goes on easy and come off super easy.

So it's been a few weeks and have been super busy w life and all that comes w it! Want to thank everyone that provided valuable insight into what I was looking for. This is what I decided to go with, figured it will tide me over till I get my hands on a DA! Really excited

After using Duragloss 105 and 601 and seeing the results on a clayed vehicle- I'm not sure how you can get more gloss out of a product by hand. It's nice stuff.
