Yup, i was washing my car today and the two parts seperated (the white and yellow parts).

Does anyone know if these things have a waranty on them (i got mine in mid-july)? :o

Mid July?! You should contact Meghan, unless you have put it through the washer and dryer I can't see why this would have happened.

Mine tore two weeks ago, just out of nowhere, glue is still there but the white foam tore from it :(

I accidentally poked a hole on mine :p but it's still good! Had mine since January and it's still running strong. I'm going to get an Ulti Mitt once I retire it.

how many washes have you done with it?

No more than 20 washes.

And i have not put it through the washer/dryer - only rinsed it out by hand and left to dry.

I will contact meghan today. Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah, mine did that to. I was just told to buy another one by the Edge guys!

The same thing just happened to me, Meghan took care of it right away.
Its nice to know she has our backs when stuff breaks. :D

Brandon, let's put it in its proper context, you got 100+ commerical washes out of yours.

It still should not have ripped though, if others are having the same problem, that means it's something that should be fixed no matter how many washes it has had. This is not a matter of wear, it's a matter of quality. People are saying thiers have ripped after 2-3 washes, and mine after 100, so that does not matter IMO.

I don't think ripped is the correct term. The product does seem to have a problem coming unglued. I know one of mine did. The product did not cost big bucks so I have not been worried about getting a replacement. I initially purchased a number of ShMitts but I'm do think I would buy anymore unless Edge addresses the problem. AG is great about taking care of any problems with any products they sell. From my stand point I would like to know that Edge at least acknowledges that there is a problem and fixes it before I would purchase anymore more. I know people from Edge do get on the forum and the ShMitt coming unglued problem has come up on threads numerous times. It would be nice to hear from Edge about the problem.

Yeh I had no problems with mine till 2 weeks ago, used maybe once/twice a month since January, there was a small tear that started that everyone else seem to have right at the hand opening, then out of nowhere it just tore, the white foam tore away from the glue:(. Still love the shmit.

This was addressed in December 2 months after the launch and was totally corrected. The only ones that have problems are the ones with the initial glue that was made for 2 months. The life of the product is about 100 washes give or take, and at the price of $12.99 its a pretty good deal at about $.12cents per wash. We also opened the hand opening and added the wrist string for easy hanging up, or just using without putting your hand inside. If you have any problems it is probably still older stock and if you just contact Meghan she will take care of you right away. We always listen to our customers and improve every time we can, even when there is not problems.

Thank you for your response Edge. It's nice to know that you are listen to what people are saying about your products.

The ones I purchased were after December but they still could have been old stock I don't really know. I do remember a thread were you did address the glue problem and said that it had been fixed. I think I purchased my ShMitts a couple months after that so I assumed the problem was corrected. I may have had 30 washes at the most before it came apart. At the price of the ShMitt it's not the end of the world that it did come apart but I would like to know that it has been fixed before I purchase anymore. I do know that the problem continues to come up even on recent purchases so there must still be old stock out in inventory. Is there anyway to tell the difference in the ShMitts with a glue problem vs. the ones where the problem has been corrected without having it come unglued through usage?

The new glue has a very dark amber color and is pressed very hard. The best way to know is if you get one that has the string on it. Those are the most recent.

Hmmm, think my glue was light/white colored, have to check. Bought mine in January but was pry a left over from before. It's holding on half way so its still good, for now lol. The white foam tore from the glue, not sure what happened.

Light white, or kind of clear, even just a tad yellowish is the older glue. The new glue is very dark amber brown color. Not eveyone had problems with the older glue and their ShMiTT wore out before any delamination occured, but with certain wash chemicals, left wet for a long time, or subjected to heat in a dryer or left in the hot sun or car, the old glue would break down. The new glue will not. Even in a dryer.
