so i worked in the oil field but we all know whats going on with that, So ive been laidoff and been surviving by saleing wifes quad and 3 childrens &mine dirtbikes what frickin sucked and a mobile carwash has been in my mind for a couple years so im putting what i have left into starting mobile carwash n detail..gonna be wife and my oldest son(18). to try and save or truck and house.we live in Vernal,UT one detail place here and people got to drop car off n pick up heard it cost 200 or more for a pickup the works.was wondering if that sounds like a great opportunity with the location im in and would be the first out here.

Great idea for a town with no mobile. Set your prices high but give discounts for first time customers. Start with friends and family. Words of mouth is best in small town

thanks my wifes friend owns the nice hair salon and our friend is a realtor they both said we can have buisness cards and they were gonna promote us and i was gonna give them free washes and especially at first so that were seen doing it, there is just one main street that everyone travels figured whole town would be eyeballin.you think good idea? and thanks for even reading.

Plus one on raysanni post ill add that also be open minded to all customers request, use a general plan unless requested for a more in depth, also try to be eco-friendly when you can since your out west where water. Is restricted at times lastly once your established branch out to your closes neighboring towns......just some ideas for the stew

thanks for your time and thoughts, in which i completely agree with..over a decade ago i moved to arizona to try and uild relations with brother and i brought this up for us to do and again wasnt one out there yet and got shot down like im a dummy..well now there is like 10 of them and a town thats small i didnt think that many could be there.im telling my kids this is it chase ur dreams no regrets.and this is dad doing that..hopefully it works.works.thanks

It will work just have faith you cant win em all though you can win most and learn from the mistakes and come back stronger all us geeks are here cheering you on throughout your encounters....happy detailing/good luck

Sorry your down on luck, just have to say do nothing for free.

Great advice from everybody. One more good tip is to start conversation with people you encounter everyday, the store clerk, the insurance office, the hair stylist, the barber, these people are hundreds of people a day they can be helpful in getting word out. Never do work for free at least get hourly rate. Get used to taking about your work to everybody so you can get used to taking with people.

this is the first website ive ever joined, but after i read alittle in the forum i realized there was congradulating and not hating...thanks

Yea , no haters here. And no question is treated as "dumb".
Most times I have a question I don't even have to ask it. A search finds it's been asked before.

Hey Sean,

Go at it and go balls to the wall. raysanni has some very good advice. Put yourself out there, word of mouth is the best advertising in the world. If you believe, then others will also.
Good luck to you sir, and take care.

Peace,

Darrin
