The promblem with those blocks,there not bendable they have been in the market along time nothing new.And there kind of rough on the paint and you may get one or two uses out of it,stick with clay.I love how people refresh a existing product and call it there own.on a corvette especially the rear that block will be impossible to use on some parts of the corvette.
 
Give us some good quarter panel close up shots.Then everyone can advise the easiest most effective way to make it beautiful again,without pics everything is just speculation.

Sometimes I think I'm over thinking this whole paint thing.

I'm mostly looking for a 20/20 shine.

Paint is pretty hammered a bit,for a 20/20 shine meguairs 205 on a microfiber cutting disk.Then a paint sealant of your choice.Depending on your skill set hd speed being that it's a all in one deal,you may level out some scratches and make a big improvement in one shot with no lsp to do.That paint needs a two step but it sounds like you want mimium effort.so go with the hd speed.

or bring it to a reputable detailer in town to make it right.

What exact Menzerna products do you speak of?

I understand the swirl remover and finish glaze of the Wolfgang.


I'll take your advice and get one of these 2 products

Paint is pretty rough. I would say you could go one of two routes:

Meg's Ultimate Compound, Yellow Cutting Pad but you'll have to lean into it a bit. Then follow up with a Ultimate Polish on a white pad or AIO like HDSpeed, lastly a good sealant.

or

I personally would hit it with Meguiar's Foam Cut Compound 101 on an orange Pad then follow with Polish and sealant as noted above. Did this on a similarly bad vehicle recently with spectacular results.

I get you're after 20/20 success not perfection but really the difference isn't much. Really just the difference in products used. Time and effort are about the same.

Yes, Wolfgang polishes are overpriced in my opinion.


With your PC, you will get good results with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound on a Meguiar's Microfiber Cutting Pad followed by Meguiar's Ultimate Polish on a medium foam pad, like the Meguiar's Thin Pads. The lower profile of both of these pads will squeeze the most performance out of your PC.

These combos are very forgiving for beginners, yield very good results, are available OTC and are reasonably priced.

I've used both Menzerna and Wolfgang for quite a while - should you go this route you will not be dissapointed. If you are already familiar with Wolfgang, I'd recommend just going this route. If you are looking to broaden your experience, checkout Menzerna.
 
Just get Menzerna FG400 and whatever the new equivalent is to 4000. They have performed very well on GM black using my Flex and hybrid pads. The BOSS system works just as well.
 
You want results with no guess work ?

That was from a black zr1 that looked like it went thru every automatic car wash it passed.

I used the boss microfiber cutting pad and fast correcting cream.

You'll notice the haze, that wasn't polished yet.

The boss creams from griots are user friendly long work time, no dusting, and the most important easy wipe off.

Get all 4 boss creams and you can tackle any paint.

Hard paint, soft paint, bad paint, the system rocks.

My advice get the griots garage 6 inch.

The 5 inch plate and the 5 inch boss pads.

And you will make your vette look like it deserves to look.

I definitely like both of these products. I took a look at what's included in the intro kit and this looks like a pretty good deal. Either the intro kit or the FG400 and the SF 3500 should do the trick. One thing that I like about Menzerna is that it produces little to no dust.

Nice work! I haven't worked with any of the Boss creams. I've been tempted but I've recently been working with the Rupes system. I've heard nothing but great things about the Boss creams.
