Waterless Wash that leaves nothing behind?

Couldn't the same be said (alleged) for just
about every car-wash/cleaning product?

•BTW:
-How much rinsing-with-water will it take
to ensure that all of the "soap" is gone?

-What "type" of water will you be using?

Bob
Yes, and good question. I'm using tap water, but my water is pretty low mineral content. I could use distilled or filtered for rinsing. (Hmmm... would be pretty easy to put a filter and a hose bib in the garage.)

No idea how much rinsing it takes. If one rinse removes 90%.... Same issue, of course. You never get to zero. It's about how much remaining is too much. I don't know.

Someone needs to do a scientific laboratory experiment. Medical/electro tics grade distilled water mixed with d114 at exactly thr recommended dilution ratios. Use sterile applicator to apply d114 and measure the amount of residue left behind after using a towel to dry. I'm guessing if the instruments are sensitive enough there will be the smallest amount residual surfactants/whatever left behind. The towels microscopic lint would have to be removed of course.

Who is game?
Why bother using a sterile applicator...
if the same restrictive rule is not also
applicable to the (lint-free) drying towel?

And to paraphrase Admiral Farragut:
"Damn the residual surfactants...
('and as long as no Waxes are left behind')
Full detailing-speed ahead"!!

Agree on the same rule being applied to the MF. My silly rant was kinda geeking out on my part.

Someone needs to market hermetically sealed, sterile, super-overpriced MF towels. Ready to use out of the super fancy packaging. You could charge 2-3 times the price of an ordinary towel and make a killing. If you could quantitatively prove the towel is even marginally better than the leading MF towels it would be a gold mine.

Somebody named Sal already did that.

So something like this? Hermetically sealed, vacuum packed, pre washed, delinted, German engineered, Korean made super MF 2 pack for 50.00.

For me...those are a: No Go.
(They don't appear to be "edgeless".)

Holy geeking out! This thread sounds like a bunch of NASA geeks discussing some million dollar ISS experiment. I'm not arguing because I think there are some very valid points. I'm guessing some of you have very accomplished backgrounds in chemistry and other related fields.

You could, but the devil would be in the detail of actually identifying a residue. It would be easily enough done but I don't see why when accepted chemistry gives you the answer ahead of time. The Quat content is there to be substantive. It is like a magnet sticking to metal. Have you seen what happens with iron filings and a magnet? That is what happens here. You can wipe much of it away but it's a bugger to get rid of it all. If you wanted absolutely no residue, you simply wouldnt use a Quat.

The residue may not be significant/visible/cause any effect (in their opinion) but it will be there to some extent.
