Griot's Garage Liquid Gloss Poly Wax Review

I've read here and in other threads that this is a pure wax/sealant, however the box states that it has "rich polishing ingredients". Is that not correct? Does it have any polishers and/or cleaners? Can it be layered over other products?

See post #11 It helps to read the whole thread as most times your question has been asked and answered.

Yes, I did read post 11. That's why I noted in my earlier post that I had read contradicting information from what is printed on the box. Or am I misunderstanding the "polishing ingredients"? Does Joe represent Griots or receive that information from them?

i would use this lsp after polishing and wouldn't apply anything over it unless i were to apply a second coat (one uniform coat is good enough though). if one was looking for something to help clean/correct you can use the BOSS finishing sealant with the DA...

The intent of the word "polish" varies among manufacturers. In "detailing circles" (like this one), it's most often thought of as a product containing abrasives that physically abraid a paint surface. But to the everyday joe on the street wanting to make his car look better, it usually means, more simply, "to make it shiny", and that doesn't necessarily have to happen via abrasives. That could happen with oils, resins, waxes, etc.

As far as the Griots Poly Wax goes, don't plan on it doing any abraiding/correction. But on a properly prepped surface, it will "make it shiny".

What I'm really trying to get at is: If I apply this over another sealant (Griots and/or others brands), will it layer over that sealant or will it 'polish' away that sealant and replace it. I'm not looking to do actual paint correction with it.

Sealants bond best with a virgin paint surface (and very poorly over waxes). As far as "layering" goes... many will recommend doing two coats of a single product. Not so that it layers, but rather to ensure even application/coverage. Can you layer sealants? Sure. But the net gain is a tough thing to measure. The Griots Poly Wax might not "polish" off a previous layer of sealant, but it may remove some of it via chemical processes. Whether it will remove 10% or 90% or none at all... you're not going to get a definitive answer.

That said, many of us around here do have our preferred combos of multiple LSP's. If you plan to layer, just make sure to give the first one a proper "cure" time.

Not that I'm aware. He has just used the new BOSS products with great success and taken the time to do a number of reviews.
