Hello, I am a long time lurker of these forums. I have been doing compounding/polishing for about a year and the cost/benefit analysis is just not there considering how long it takes me to do the work (which still does not result in professional level quality). Every other aspect of detailing my own car is no problem, but that initial professional compounding and then perhaps a bi annual polishing is the service I need. The car in question is a 2012 obsidian black Infiniti G37. This is perhaps one of the worst paint colors I have encountered. Not only is it black and non-metallic, but the paint seems to just be a scratch magnet and etching for anything that even looks at it (even after a previous professional compounding). I understand black is a pain in itself, but bird poop that was on the car for less than an hour at 8 am (maybe 70 degrees outside) left etching that had to be wet sanded! Meanwhile my wife's 2012 gray Lexus gets crapped on regularly and bakes in the sun, with no lasting etching. I am hoping to get someone to get the paint in as good condition possible, and then if they do an awesome job I will most likely pay for a twice yearly polish. I do not require sealing unless it is very reasonable as I can do it myself. The service would not be needed right away as the front is about to get painted (the front bumper has more craters than the moon) in early May. I would most likely need the work done in July. I will gladly take any referrals or quotes that anyone is willing to give.

I my self will be in florida in the 1st of June.

What area of Tampa are you in?

make sure they pull the bumper off to prevent oversprspray and cover the car.Ive seen Bodyshop techs spot prime a repair out in the open, and every car has overspray on it from being lazy and not covering cars.

Sunset kia did that to my gf's car with the mirror. Have overspray all over front quarter.

Thanks for the great replies! I actually live in Apollo Beach, but I figured Tampa would be much easier to give people an idea of where I am. I have a second vehicle as well, so I can drop it off for a day or two if needed.

You have a PM from me.

Sunset Grill Ruskin parking lot a couple years ago in the GC.

You should have seen the dust on her after a few hours parked there!

If you guys feel like a little ride, there is a show at Quaker Steak & Lube, St Pete
Saturday 4-8 pm this weekend.

By what you described in your first post have you ever considered having a coating applied? That would help with the bird damage.

I'm actually heading up to this show in NC tomorrow, my dad lives up there and has been asking mean to come check it out. I'll have the dslr and the swirl finder, we'll see if these vehicles are "Competition Ready"
