Thieves Strike Again!!

I live in SoCal also. I have heard and saw recently on the news out here that there are a few groups of people that are using power amplifiers to get into vehicles that are locked. Here is a story about it. Thieves using a $17 device to break into cars with keyless systems

That would make sense as I was certain that I locked my doors. And as someone said, there had to be a vehicle because my bag was relatively heavy, especially since it had compounds in as well.

Thanks everyone for all the positive vibes. Your kind words have helped brighten up my day a bit.

So sorry to hear this. Would love to catch these people and hang em by their balls or other private parts!

I'm usually a calm and compassionate individual, however I can't stand thieves and I'm right there with you.

So sorry to hear about your loss ! I just hope the thieves get caught and you get all your beloved stuff back !

Sorry to hear about your stuff getting snagged :( . It's unfortunate how easily people can get away with theft like that.

Ya know, stuff like this just torques my shorts!

That said, sorry for your mishap, BUT do file a police report.

Quickie LAPD story...Back in about 1962 or so, our garage was broken into. They only got a lot of hand tools. Fast forward to 1965. I was on leave and was visiting my folks. Phone rings (yea, they did 'ring' back then), LAPD. They have some stolen items, etc. I run down to Van Nuys Station, lo and behold...ALL of our tools were there! Tools that I'm still using to this day.

It took some time, but LAPD did come thru.

Wow, that's almost impossible to believe! For one, that 3 years later your tools were all in one place and that the police were able to identify them as your tools, and for two, how old you are!

PS Just a little busting from one old guy to another!

Wow that is extremely hard to believe. I mean I hope this would happen a lot sooner than later, but at this point I can only be hopeful.

Actually it was 1966, wife was with me. I hit the wrong key (won't be the last time, knowing my typing talents)

Not have surprised as my Dad and I were. They were easy to identify, most of them had a "stinger" hit. That little blob of molten metal made all the difference. There musta been hundreds of hand tools on the table from who knows from where. I always wondered if others were able to get theirs back.

I hope "they" will be able to help you out. I know a lot has changed on how various PD's deal with stolen property, but (hopefully) my lil story will give ya little piece of mind.

I have absolutely no time for scum like that...time for a "come to Jesus meeting" or a similar fate.

I'm sorry for your loss. This kind of thing is so commonplace nowadays. It happens everywhere. (Everyplace there are lowlife _______) I had a brand new 9 mm 17 shot handgun stolen out of my apartment under circumstances similar to yours. Locked apartment, no one knew how it happened. The police thought I must have left the door unlocked. I get a call 15 years later from the police saying they found my gun, and it was in the possession of the guy who lived next door to me. How he got into my place is still a mystery to me, but evidently he figured out a way to do it. I'm living for the day that I run into this fool. Unfortunately there are quite a few individuals out here that would rather rip people off than work and earn the things in life they want. I know you probably don't want to hear this now, but you can always recoup material things in life. You have something more valuable than that; I can tell by the response that you have received that there are a lot of folks out here that care about you.

Coming from a military background, I know for a fact that I have could have lost something more dear to me that money could never replace. My gf is in awe at how calm I remain in this situation. She even said it was a bit scary. But I explained to her the bigger picture, gave her a hypothetical situation, "imagine if you lost a family heirloom, or worse a close family member. I lost my 30 year old sister to cancer about 3 years ago. She was checked into the hospital in june and by september she passed away. Cancer robbed me of time with my sister. My future kids will never truly know that person. All they will hear are faint memories, and even in time memories fade. So be glad that thieves didn't steal anything important at all."

As far people on this forum, it reminds me of the tight knit family from when I was in the Marine Corps. People are generous, always looking out for each other, always willing to lend a hand whether with advice or actually help someone with detailing needs and beyond just detailing. And I try to do the same. If I ever see someone locally with questions I try to offer help and advice. This is why I really love this place.

Hey man I just got back from the "Roadium" Open air swap meet in Torrance. I am sure you have heard of it but if not you probably should hit it up a this weekend if you have time. You may find it there for sale. I just walked around the whole place and it took about an hour. I saw tons of vendors selling power tools which were more then likely stolen. Many of them had numbers/names engraved on them. I did see a couple older polishers but nothing new and worth while. I was keeping an eye out for your stuff but didn't see it. I was able to buy a brand new Megs Smooth Clay bar kit which has 2 white clay bars, a container, quick detailer and a micro fiber for $5. It was all brand new. It only costs 50 cents per person to enter but you have to drive a vehicle inside the lot. For some reason they don't allow people to walk in on foot. You can also talk to some vendors and have them look out for your stuff. I wouldn't tell them it was stolen but tell them what you are "looking for".

Actually Im very familiar with the Roadium. I live in Torrance nearby the Del Amo Fashion center. However, considering where the thefts took place, Im going to be searching swap meets in the long beach and paramount areas along with pawn shops. Without my polishers I have extra time. I mean at least I still have been able to provide customers with interior details and basic claybar/wax services but I did have to cancel some of my AIO and multi-step corrections till I can replace my polishers. But I appreciate that you took the time to keep an eye out.

Dang that sucks, I always keep my stuff at home you can't trust anyone these days. Hope you can recover all your items.
