So the title says it all. A customer spilled milk, fish, and lobster meat in a car in december 2015. The smell is baked into the carpet by now. They are paying me to get rid of the stench (it's awful). I shampooed the spot for about 3 hours using a bisell portable shampooer, foaming carpet/upholstery cleaner, and used a full bottle of Meguires odor elminator in it. The smell is obviously still there but about 75% of what it was. I suggested they do the same thing every week for about 2 months. Any suggestions on what else to do?? Thanks again.

Wow, all the worst things...

Is it just in the carpet or the seats too?
I would first hit it with some McKee's Upholstery Cleaner, let that dwell then attach an aqua brush onto you PC and agitate.
From there I would hit it with McKee's Carpet Extractor Pre-Treatment and let that dwell. Then Hot Water Extract the carpet.
Lastly and most effective part, is to apply CarPro So2Pure.

I did an SUV last fall where the cat urinated on the back seat, after doing the above steps, she stated the cat urination smell was gone and never returned.

Good luck!

Replacing the carpet and pad is the only thing that is going to completely eliminate the odor at this point.

Because one was to "ask Mike Philips" the other was to everyone else...

The bisell just deosnt have enough lift or psi to take care of that.usually in situations like this and cat urine I won't get involved. The only option would be to call a carpet cleaner company, there machines are truck mounted and have all the enzymes chemicals on board to maybe treat or eliminate the stench.Depending on the model, carpet replacement is key and economical.I find when you take on these jobs it's never ending, and eventually the customer gets pissed because you didn't come through.

Ozone machine e. 1 or 2 treatments will clear it up. Friend had a major vomit situation occur and after cleaning had a similar situation and an ozone unit was the only solution after a good cleaning.

Vomit is a whole different ballgame compared to fish or cat piss.ozone machine may take care of it at this point try anything.

They let the stench sit and stew for 6 months before trying to get it cleaned? They deserve to stink like their filthy car, disgusting people!

They are actually a nice church going older couple. Probably in their 80's. I actually feel bad for them as they weren't even the ones who spilled it and have tried (on their own) to clean it many times

Again an $85 ozone machine and a couple treatments will pay off.

I think that's what I'm going to recommend to them thanks

Just an update if anyone cares, I used a citrus based cleaner and placed four zeolite bags in the car. I checked on it today (about a week later) and the smell is about 70 percent gone. Going to repeat the process in a week and see how it goes
