Pinnacle Black Label stained trim

I recently took the time to use my PBL surface cleansing polish and then applied the surface coating, but noticed that there is some significant staining - white streaks on plastic trim. It seems like both the cleansing polish and surface coating create this problem and I have not found any good way to get it off. Has anybody else experienced this and what did you to do fix it?
 
Coating doesn't create stain. The polish may if left on plastic without wiping it off fast enough..........

Unfortunately I haven't a clue how to get it off now, since it sounds like you coated over it........
 
I used my DA polisher to apply the surface cleansing polish and I'm sure that is how I ended up bumping up against some of the trim. The coating was applied with the Lake Country coating applicators which is much more accurate along edges, so I don't THINK I coated over all of it. Would a trim restorer cover it up?
 
The mckee's coating prep polish does too. I cleaned it off quick, but it kind of looks like water spots. I used a brush and apc to try and clean. I even tried a dressing to see if it would help. It deminished, but still shows. I'll try some other fun stuff next.
 
Had mine masked amd removed for this step so I could clean to the trim in prep for a coating.
 

Questions:


* Does the PBL surface cleansing polish or any other polish say in the directions say to use it on trim as a cleaner?

* Did you do a small test spot first in an unseen area before doing all the trim?

Bad news: your trim is stained and it's going to require some elbow grease to clean.
Good news: you learned a valuable lesson and will (hopefully) spend a little extra time in the future taping off the trim. :)

Thank you all for the assistance. I'll try the Mothers cleaner and see what happens!
 
That was with no rinsing after, right, as per bottle instructions?

Keep an eye on those areas and tell us if they stay "corrected" after a rain or a wash.
 
I will keep an eye on it, however, I used the trim cleaner product:

which claims that "Heavy Duty Trim Cleaner is not a cover-up; it deep cleans, allowing you to erase years of neglect and environmental abuse, including oxidation, dirt, road grime and even stubborn embedded wax."
I did not use the restorer which is more of a cover-up product:

I wish Mothers was differentiated them a bit more, but the Back-to-black line has several products in the same situation: B2B Tire Renew vs B2B Tire Shine for example
 
Mother's to the rescue. Your trim looks better. BTW, do you think it could have been the adhesive from your taping? Next time you should leave the tape on until the last actual step of coating.
