Hello all!

First for some background, I am an occasional lurker and first time poster here at AGO. Lots of great people and knowledge here. I am somewhat of a newbie but learning more, largely with the help of this site. I am not a professional and just try to keep our own cars looking decent during the week (BTW, really liking the WG Uber RW as I can now wash the cars in the garage after dark during the week and not have to wait for the weekend for a bucket and hose on the driveway).

We also have a houseboat (think an over-sized floating RV for those not familiar) that I have started giving the yearly waxing. I am currently using Marine 31 AIO on the boat and like the way it is working so far. First year with it - so, no report on longevity yet. However, the houseboat has a combination of regular gel coat, painted gel coat and painted metal. The M31 AIO description indicates it is good for both regular and painted gel coat. So, I have largely been using it all over so far. I also have some XMT 360 that I used on my daily driver and liked a lot. I recalled that the product page for 360 also mentions use on gel coat. So, I got to wondering how the M31 and 360 are supposed to compare from a correction and/or protection standpoint. The 360 was at the house and not with me at the lake when I thought about this over the weekend. So, I did not get to do a back to back comparison. Both products go on and off pretty easy, though I'd give the edge to 360 for ease of application as it truly does work away to almost nothing for easy wipe off. Any thoughts on how these would compare? Should I be using the M31 on the true gel coat and the 360 on the paint or are they likely close enough to not really matter? I also got to wondering how the McKee's RV AIO would compare? Is it really much different than the Marine 31 line?

With the time involved for the boat, definitely looking to say with a one-step product. Most of the surfaces on the boat are white. So, we are not hyper-sensitive about getting 100% perfect correction and much more interested in shine and protection (though, I realize a good surface is important for both of those).

If it matters, I have an older (non-XP) PC 7424 and a Flex 3401 and also currently some orange and white CCS pads and some PFW pads. I will say that the M31 AIO with the 3401 and PFW did a great job getting some shine back into the gel coat. Been using the 7424 and white pads with the M31 AIO on the painted areas so far. Only about half-way around the boat right now and probably need to resupply some product so I thought I'd pick the brains here at AGO before proceeding.

Sorry, no pics right now.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Anyone with thoughts on comparisons of 360 vs Marine 31 AIO vs McKee's RV AIO for one-step use on painted and/or gel coat surfaces?

Marine 31 (and most marine care products in general) utilize unique abrasives that make them better suited for gel coat (which is substantially harder than clear coat). This is the case with Marine 31 All-In-One Gel Coat Polish & Wax. That's the most "basic" differences.

I would stick to using Marine 31 on your boat and McKee's 37 360 on your car, because it's best to use any given product for its intended application if your goal is to extract the best performance from each respective product.

Thanks Nick. I've understood marine products are typically more aggressive to work the gel coat. In our case, much of the boat has painted surfaces. So, I just wondered if it would still be best to stick with the "marine" products for that.

Also, is there much difference between the Marine 31 AIO and the RV AIO? Both product descriptions seem pretty similar, so I wondered if one had a little more of this or that.

As much as I've learned from this forum so far, one of the things that also appears to be contagious for the experts and enthusiasts here is the continual questioning and experimenting of - this works good but I wonder if that will work better . . .
