Dedicatedperfection: Red VW Jetta

This one belongs to a fellow coworker and has been after me about getting him slotted in for a transformation.

This one belongs to his wife and is used as a DD/Dog hauler…. I didn’t ask what kind of dog but what as I understand its of the Sheppard breed. Anyhow they bought a canvas to lay over the back seat but as of late it hasn’t been in use much leaving the dog to run across the back seats.

This one took up 9 hours to transform.

Interior:
Vacumed out with Shop-Vac
Door jambs/crevices blown out with Tornador Black/BLACKFIRE WW
Dash and door panels cleaned up with Pinnacle Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner Conditioner
Leather cleaned up with McKee’s 37 Total Interior Cleaner
Leather protected with McKee’s 37 Interior Surface Protectant

Wheels and wells:
Wheels first cleaned with Meguiar’s D140 Wheel Brightener
Wheels & Tires cleaned up with Meguiar’s D143 Wheel & Tire Cleaner
Wheel Wells Cleaned and tires cleaned up with Meguiar’s D101 APC

Wash:
HP body rinse to knock off loose dirt
Pre foamed with Meguiar’s Hyper-wash/D101 APC and left to dwell
HP rinse to remove soap residue
Bugs removed with Sonax Bug remover & Bug Scrubber
Washed via 2BM, Grit Gaurds, & Meguiar’s Hyper-wash
Blow dry with leaf blower

Correction:
Clayed with 3401, Nanoskin medium pads, Meguar’s D155 LT.
BLACKFIRE Total Polish & Seal Driven by FLEX 3401/LC White Hybrids

Miscellaneous:
Tires & Trim dressed with Meguiar’s D160 All Season Dressing
Windows Cleaned with Wolfgang Perfekt vision glass cleaner
Pictures taken with Nikon D3200 and hooded 18-55 kit lens

Wow! Stunning transformation, I don't know how people can let their car get that filthy.

Re: Dedicatedperection: Red VW Jetta

Great job as always Mike!!!

I love the big improvement you did on the interior and the door/trunk jambs... How many MF towels did you use to clean them up?

How much correction did you achieve with the BF TPnS?

Sucks it rained when you were taking the after shots.

Absolutely incredible! Looks like red is the color today and has always been one of my favorites to get like THAT. Beautiful work, Mike.

I love my smallest wheel woolie for door/trunk jambs. A good APC spritz and that tool seems to fit almost every channel. I follow that with a MF towel and some polish then an LSP and bam. Yup...they'll get trashed again but not without a good cleaning and some protection.

Thanks Marc!!!

I went through a dozen generic mf towels or so.

This one was pretty beat up and could have benefitted from an actual one step compound/polish. However I got a respectable level of correction with it given the state of the finish. Way to many rids to chase after. I would say 65% correction.

:xyxthumbs:

Mike, as always, love your work! Great job!

Hey Chris! Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read/comment.

Appreciated good sir.

Nicely done Mike and great pictures!

Thanks Frank!

Thanks!!! Looks that way however the other one looks phenomenal!

I will have to keep those in mind. I was using the Famous Detailing brush/Meguiar's D101 APC along with the power of the Tornador Black to blast everything away.

I need to pick up a PE8 kit with 1" pads for areas like this.

65% correction for a quick AIO pass is pretty good!

How many section passes did you do per work area?

I thought so as well. Surely we would all love to perfect the paint but I had to keep moving and stay on time/budget.

I worked for 4 section passes each.

I've contemplated getting the wheel woolies. You just tipped me over the edge with the door jambs and gunnels (thanks Ron) use. I always struggled to find a tool that gave a slight Pressure to the inner door jambs. Never thought about the smallest wheel woolie. Thanks for the tip.

Mike,

Your work is always top shelf. And your photos are great. I absolutely hated working VW carpet. I can't imagine how difficult it is to get dog hair out. Awesome transformation of that dog hauler!

Gross! What a mess!! Nice work bringing it back to perfection Mike. Hopefully it stays that way for a while!

Thank you good sir.

I used a Sonax pet hair brush to brush up the hair and a combination of the 6hp Shop-Vac along with the Tornador Black/Velocity-Vac attachment.

Yes sir! Thanks Ian. I hope so too!
