Brand new car. Klasse twins. Machine (DA) or Hand?

Got car last week, ready to 2 bucket wash, clay, and apply the Klasse twins.

I just got a DA from Harbor Freight along with the polish ( blue ) and finish ( black ) pads.

I also have hand applicators. Never used Klasse before, but i read about trying to spread it as thin as possible.

Never used a DA Polisher before but i have seen plenty of videos. What should i do? Hand or Machine?

i would let the DA do all the work (more consistent and thorough results) and while i haven't used the hf pads, i would invest in some pads that are known to be good quality like the BOSS pads, buff & shine, lake country, megs. you can't go wrong with any of them...

There was a great thread on here regarding the HF, but it was taken down as you're not supposed to discuss items not sold by AG.

One point clearly made in that thread by those using the HF DA was that the backing plate and pads were of poor quality and the velcro on the backing plate was too large for the pads causing the pads to shread with one use and with possible damage to the car.

Get yourself a 5" backing plate and quality 5.5" pads and play it safe.

I read about that too. It seems to be fixed. The pads white velcro backing is now the same size as the velcro in the polisher itself, leaving no velcro exposed to shred the foam.

Im just worried that i might screw the paint up using a machine since its new and there no noticiable swirls. Isnt that what a DA polisher is used for? Swirl removal and scratches? On the other hand i want the most consistent way to lay down the thiinest coat possible.

Darn i just read about it. Seema like great stuff. Is it as finicky to apply as SG?

Yes, a DA is for removing swirls/scratches, but also a good way to apply an even thin coat of your favorite wax or sealant-use the softest pad you have.

While the backing plate may now fit the pads, you'd still be better off starting out with a quality 5" backing plate and quality 5.5" pads--they are more effective, easier to handle on curved panels and cost less than quality 6.5" pads. As you mention the paint is new and in good shape--I wouldn't want to chance messing it up with a poor pad.

Apply the LSP with the HF, but buff it off with a quality MF towel. Don't forget-- You should chemical decontaminate and clay the paint before applying you're LSP.

Okay gonna apply the AIO with hand, buff off with the Meg micro the use the DA to lay down the SG.

Imms clat but dont have chem remover right now
