Stating the title as "free shipping" but having the actual offer be "free shipping over $150" is misleading.

This is never changing trend.

After seeing an email titled "20% off + free shipping", I had added about $50 worth of product in my cart but free shipping wouldn't turn on. Refreshed, emptied my cart, etc. but nothing fixed it. Realized a little while later there was no shipping offer. I decided against my purchase at that point.

The forum software limits the number of characters you're able to put in the title.

Nice sale! Especially with the gallon event!

Glad you think so Chris! Stock up on your favorite products and enjoy summer detailing! :xyxthumbs:

LOL!!!! This happen to me last time they had a deal like this and I saw "FREE SHIPPING" then realized later that it had to $150+ of an order. I couldn't hit the X button to close the page fast enough

I have a solution for the forum software "20% Off & FS over $150 Through Friday June 10th 2016 ". The FS stands for free shipping wildly used acronym :)

One thing is for sure, AG and its sites are not stingy with their sales. Give em a break or they will not be so kind to us in the future :)

It's also done on the subjects of the email announcement.

I don't know guys, any---somewhat--length of time on this site you'd notice almost all of there sales have always been the 150 limit for free shipping. I think a couple of weeks back they had free shipping for 50 dollars. But my short time here and the 150 FS seems pretty standard.

True, but free shipping over $150 is nothing to write home about.

It'd probably be better to just leave "free shipping" out and announce the good sale.

👍🏽

I must admit I get "sucked in" to clicking on the sale every time only to find out that yep, just like most times its free ONLY AFTER $150. So sad.

The free shipping gimmick is quite amusing. I never fall for that when I get promotional emails. In fact it's usually an instantaneous delete.

one thing for sure is that AG listens. who knows they may have another sale with free shipping over $50 again. if you don't have enough to get the free shipping with this particular sale, then wait and see what the next one or two may offer...

:p :) I'm different I guess. I can kinda see where some would have an issue, but what I bolded above, isn't that a bit of the point from AG marketing side. I don't know, like I said, I figured it out pretty quick and just accepted that the 150 FS limit. Shipping isn't cheap either. I'm sure they probably have a deal with UPS because of volume. But you still have man hours and supplies. With that said I think the rate are a touch high, but again they still have overhead to cover.

Re: 20% Off & Free Shipping Through Friday June 10th 2016

I can see it from both sides. AG does need to make sure they have the margin to cover their free shipping offer. They could jack the prices up and then offer free shipping on every order, or they can keep it as is and let you decide for yourself. For a casual DIYer like me, I can just wait until I have a larger order to take advantage of it.

On the other hand, it does feel a little bait and switch to put "free shipping"in the title only to discover it's only the regular free shipping over $150 offer. Perhaps the announcements can be worded differently to be more clear?

One other thing I noticed on my last order that differentiates the Geek from other online stores is that the free shipping amount is BEFORE discounts. I got my last order up just over $150, and then added the discount code and still got free shipping. Between the discount ($30) and some account credit that Nick graciously gave me (items on a previous order went on sale the next day) I was only out about $100, but my order still shipped free and included the "extra free stuff" that they were adding for orders over $150 as well...

Edited to fix autocorrect errors that I didn't notice in time...

Which are the two reasons why I don't order from AG any longer. Of course they try to make it look like free shipping on everything. In that they do the same thing in their emails shows that it's _not_ because they have limited characters. Obviously they are trying to entice people by making it _look_ like its just free shipping. They also do the _exact_ same thing with their "price match".... "we will meet or beat anyone's price, shipping or promotions" is listed on their home page. However... when you actually look, they only price match a few retailers. Naw, not deceptive at all. But perhaps it's just because of limited characters.

$150 for free shipping? Other sites have the same prices (or in limited cases, lower) and offer free shipping at $50 or even $100.

AG has a _LOT_ to offer... great forum, great write up's/reviews, good prices. I think it's just a shame that they feel the need to use this type of marketing.

Edit: I'll certainly give them credit for adding the correct information to the image in the post.

so in other words, you and other seem to hate marketing in general. because mostly all "sales pitches" use that type of wording, or at least 99%.

IMO they way you order from AG, is you save up a bunch of things you want, and then when a sales like this hits that when you strike. AG isn't Amazon, never will be, so just take the free shipping thoughts out of your heads and you all will be fine. Meanwhile, myself and other will crush this 20% of sale and get gallons like crazy!

We price match everyone except Amazon, Ebay, membership clubs (ie: SAMS) and outlets. None of our direct competitors are excluded from this policy.

We'll beat it. Plain and simple. :xyxthumbs:

Even though you don't shop from us, I'm glad you continue to use our FREE discussion forum and other FREE online resources for information.

The image hasn't changed since I made the original post yesterday afternoon. The "confusion" so to speak was over the subject of the thread, not the image, which has clearly stated the details of this sale from the second it was created.

People usually join our discussion forum for a couple of reasons.

1. To learn about detailing.
2. To help other people learn about detailing.
3. To cause trouble.
