I'd like to start getting a good long list of Microfiber towel brands going as well as online sites that sell MF towels. If you know of any and where to purcahse them please post!

Brands:
Cobra - of course :)
Sonus der Wunder - Autopia
Zwipes - Walmart, etc.

Sorry, guess I can't list web sites....

Free Post...........linking site to the forum is against the rules as is talking about any competiters. It won't be long before they are removed and this thread locked. Fiber works, dftowel, and autopia are the only ones I haven't tried. I love exceldetails towel.

I have tried towels from numerous sites and all offer they are the best. To date Cobras, Micropaks, and DfTowels are the only ones worth their weight. Other offerings are either quite similar (maybe just a color difference) or sold in bulk with different qualities.

MFs are an addiction. I like Cobras and CG MFs. Target MFs are good for doing wheels and door jambs.

The orange Target Vrooms are best for multipurpose use, cheap and much better quality then the combo packs at Costco that shed like a mutha. Viking at Kmart is the only other good otc micro. Heck I've had times where I used the Vroom's on black paint with no ill effects.

Cobra and Chemical Guys are imo the best. But really can't go wrong with any of the major brands.

I just received some MF's from Detailers Paradise...WOW, they're fantastic. Their Monster Fluffy and Platinum Dual Pile rags are amazing.

Grakar towels are also quite nice for the price. Greg over at Detailed Image has some super quality towels as well and his customer service is absolutely top notch.

Sonus towels seem to be very nice. I think they're a bit expensive though because you can get similar quality towels for less.

I haven't received my Cobra towels yet so I can't comment on those. I'm really looking forward to adding those to my collection!

I got some CG towels as well. They were ok but again nothing to seriously rave about in my book. I tried their 12 pack of Chubby's. Nice towels, just nothing that exciting.

I'm not impressed with fiber-works towels. They just seem run-of-the-mill quality.

I also received the DF Concours towel but I wasn't overly impressed with this one either. it feels and looks just like an ordinary terry cloth towels that I can pick up at Walmart.

Pakshak's MF and Cobra's are the only ones that I've used and liked.

I have heard from several buddies the newer DFTowel offerings suck, are quite rough, and not worth the reputation the originals offered. I have a couple originals and they fray like no tomorrow.

Detail City's Prestige and Poorboy's World DMT towels do not get enough recognition in the detailing world.... my personal favorite MF towels.

I've used Cobras, Vroom, and Wal Mart ones. I love Cobra for the paint. Wal Mart for grungier tasks and interiors :). The Vrooms aren't as thick as the blue ones in Wal Mart... I also have the Sonus yellow drying towel, doesn't dry well but it was cheap. I use it for glass since it's waffle weave, but it's HUGE for using on glass :p.

The Cobra's and Pakshak's Ultra Plus towels rank at the top of my list.

IMHO, the Prestige towels at Detail City are nice, but not quite as good as Pakshaks or the Cobras.

As a microfiber towel fan I too agree with these comments :whs:

Troy at DC got an updated Prestige towel and is looking good. I have the original prestige's, original Poorboy's DMT and Poorboy's 2nd Gen DMT as well. I personally don't like thick pile MF towels and the DMT and Prestige are plush but not over the top plush. The revers side is tight woven, excellent for wax and polish removal.

It's all personal prefernce just like everything else in the world, especially the detailing world. Just b/c killr has @autogeek at then end of his user name doesn't mean that everything he says will be true to what you like ... it's only one person's opinion and should be weighted the same as everyone else's opinions.

While I agree everyone has to take their own preferences into equation, I think the past pictures of my collection just might have led others to realize I try alot of towels. Most are not from AG, and most dont really stand up to the initial look, punishment, and uses I put them thru. I literally have a case of unflattering towels. I would however always suggest for anyone to try whatever they want and assess them, as we all have different needs and wants from detailing supplies.

As to answer the question, yes I have tried the CG towels. I suspect they are the same manufacturer as Prestige towels as almost identical except for coloring. I personally find three towels to be of the best quality initially and after multiple uses. In no order :

1. Cobra
2. PakShak (micropak)
3. DF Towels (original releases)

I have gr***s garage ones that are nice but thin I also have cobra I love the indigo for wax and polish removal their blue ones are also nice but target has grey ones that are soft and work well I use those for a qd when the car has alot of dust on them or when doing stuff that might mess up a better towel I also have a 10 or 12 pack from Target that is great for door jams and wheel wells and wheels sooo many towels to choose from. I love the cobra's for the paint.
