Interior Dressings

Yea but there's really only 2 protectants that belong in your car. I figure he's gotta be talking about 1 of these 2. I'm also curious if they're any different.

I'd like to know exactly what product was giving FreshRides trouble, too.

I'll bet any of these would work in a car's interior. The differences may come down to how much residue is left on certain materials. They recommend buffing most (all?) of their protectants dry to get the best out of them, and I can see that being more of an issue inside a car than on a boat seat. :dunno:

303® Marine & Recreation Protectant? for ALL Boat Maintenance

Indoor/Outdoor 303® Protectant? for Vinyl, Wood, Leather

303® Aerospace Protectant? for long-lasting finish and shine

303® Automotive Protectant Spray - Vinyl & Plastic Care

Same product. Nothing changed. A 303 rep on AGO confirmed this.

Thanks. I'm not surprised. I'm sure there's someone out there that desperately needs a 303® Aerospace Croquet Mallet Shaft Protectant™, but I hope their marketing department resists the urge to generate another bottle design.

They have some of that? Dude that's been on my wish list for the longest time. Totally gettin some.

I heard it's in development as part of a kit. If you buy it separately, make sure you don't get 303® Aerospace Croquet Mallet Head Protectant™ by mistake. FWIW, I prefer Pinnacle Souverän™ Carnauba Shaft Glaze.

I think I'll hang tight for the kit. Head Protectant, Shaft Glaze, and you can't forget about the balls. I'm assuming they'll include 303 Croquet Ball Sealant?

Thanks for the info. I forgot about that stuff. The only thin I don't like is paying out the A$$ for a 16oz bottle of Chemical Guys stuff that lasts one detail. Haha. But definitely appreciate that!

It lasts quite a long time. It's probably the bottle I refill the least out of all my cleaning products. When I was working worth my buddy's company, we would do an average of 2-3 cars a day 6 days a week with full int/ext, and i would say we only had to refill the 32oz spray bottle once a month.

Thanks for clearing that up, I am talking about the stuff in the blue bottle. I don't know. I guess I just didn't like it that much. Maybe if I tried putting it on with an applicator instead of a microfiber?

The Aerospace and the protectant I'm talking about are totally different. I am sure you could find something to use that 303 for though other than interior. The bottle I have says it's good for vinyl, rubber, and plastic, but I feel as if its oil based. I'd have to check. Because if its oil based its about as useless as armorall haha.

I have the white bottle one :) Says Aerospace 303 protectant on it.

Chemical Guys Silk Shine. I had it on my Civic's dash for 18 months and it never faded. Makes everything a dark matte black. Also, no streaking at all even over smooth plastics.

1Z Einszett Cockpit Premium and Poorboy's Natural Look are my two favorites. Both have mild cleaning abilities and leave a nice matte finish.

You've got to buff the residue dry or it doesn't look very nice.

303® Automotive Protectant Spray - Vinyl & Plastic Care

Usage Directions:

Use only on clean surfaces.. Out of direct sun, spray surface with 303® Automotive Protectant and WIPE COMPLETELY DRY with a clean, dry microfiber towel. Can also be applied directly onto microfiber applicator or towel before using. If streaking occurs, too much product has been used. Use a wet towel to remove excess, IMMEDIATELY wipe completely dry. Note: this product does not air dry. Extra buffing with a dry cloth INCREASES bonding, repellency & longevity. Apply every 3-5 weeks for maximum UV protection.

That sounds like the least user-friendly product I've ever heard of for an interior dressing haha.

I pretty much don't use interior protectants. IMO they're generally too shiny and don't last very long.. I went through a bottle of Megs New Car Scent Protectant that lasted me about a year on the new Kia, and while I love the smell and the initial look just after applying it, I won't be using it any longer.

The great scent lasts for maybe 2 days tops. The sheen is gone just as quik as the scent. It contains petroleum distillates + ethoxylated alcohols.. And while I won't try and pretend I know exactly what those things are, I don't think distillates and alcohols are a good thing for the long term on vinyl interior.

I prefer to use Megs D180 Leather Cleaner & Conditioner in place of protectant. IMO it gives a more proper sheen vs. cheap shine on most vehicles. Plus it smells great where some other leather conditioners don't smell so great [i.e. Wolfgang Leather Conditioner]
Just my 2 cents.

I saw the blue bottles at the parts store, but didn't pick it up because unsure if it was the same product I've been reading about. Just found a $5 coupon! Back to the store tomorrow :)

Well is it actually "bad" to just clean the area and call it a day? Do the protectants really do THAT much for the vehicles? I feel like it would be like a wax, wears off in a few weeks and only proper maintenance will take care of that. Which most people don't want to do and they don't want to pay me every 2 weeks to do it. Haha.
