Fire truck price!!

I've done many planes and still do.He is not that experienced and is going into this blindfolded.one guy all that work will take more than 4 weeks.A average Beechcraft moderately faded and oxidized and a lot smaller than a firetruck will take 4 days,and that is a lot of hussle for a 2 step and lsp.The diamond plate will consume a lot of time and I'm sure there is lots of it.
 
Not to mention all of the chrome, gauges, big @$$ wheels/tires, lots of glass.

There will be 2 people at all times working on these trucks sorry I forgot to post and a third man if needed. I was figuring $5200-$6000 is what I initially figured but I didn't know if that was an accurate price. Looks like I wasn't to far off and I will go and get some pictures of some of the worst trucks. Again thank y'all for helping y'all are great to have on ones side
 
Ok now it makes sense.I would shoot for 50hr make everyone happy if you can get more that would be even better.or have them pay for the product and material so it deosnt come out on your end.

I did tell the chief that I would have them buy the supplies. He said that was fine so that when I did it next year we could use what we had and buy anything extra we needed. I thought I would try and do a two year contract so I would definitely come out to the good if they will agree to that. What do y'all think.

This is a very tremendous work order for one person to take on,I think to make things flow at a faster rate you will need someone to help you.This is simply not a hourly rate proposition.If so your gonna have to cut your polishing process in half,by using the right materials.what I would do at a hourly rate is to order some megs d 151 and d156 spray wax for the big trucks.figure out a way to conserve time but be productive.we don't know what the trucks look like.you are gonna need so many pads and far as the glass cleaner d120 is a no brainer.you are gonna get beat up on that diamond plate it's gonna eat so much time,I would try to clean it up by hand.with a machine all the polish is gonna cake up around those little patterns.kinda confused by starting a project with no verbal or contractual agreement as far as compensation.with all those vehicles including the inside you can not go hourly.whats hourly 12 to 16 an hour at that per hour you are gonna rethink your pay on the first truck.so make it worth your time energy and effort.

What would you suggest for the diamond plate? Also the glass has hard water spots will the meg d120 remove those I was thinking I would have to buff them out?
 
Ok so here's the deal I forgot about a ladder truck they have so its a heck of a lot of diamond plate. So I got some pictures for you guys so please tell me what you think.

So what do y'all think I will have 2 people at all times and probably 3 for this big of a job.
 
I think thats one hell of a work load, take lots of pictures and good luck!

I would agree that $250/day is a good number. If you have 3 guys working, you'll want to adjust that number accordingly.
 
That is a lot of work just washing it will be time consuming.So let's get passed all that,I would keep that whole project simple.That paint is pretty tough to work on as far as making any noticeable difference so many micro pads will be need for this and on the polish,I would go for a cleaner type wax.Megs 151 reconditioning cream will make an improvement then d 156 for a quick spraywax after.The diamond plate looks dry and rough.I would just make a improvement by hand using a product designed for that.using a machine will make a mess and once you use a machine there is no turning back.There is a big difference by hand and machine.for the glass keep it simple as well buy a dedicated glass cleaner polish.When ordering from ag let them walk you through the best products that are effective and affordable.I think this maybe a five man crew job.So 250 a day may not be enough.

I'd be concerned that you and the chief have the same expectations. It's going to take a lot more time to get those trucks looking like something he may have seen in a parade. Once you bring the appearance back to an acceptable level, maybe Chief will pay for the tools, supplies, and training required to educate the firefighters. I know they're busy sleeping until they're hungry, eating until they're sleepy, and playing PS4, but they might have time to do a little cleaning, too.
