Another G15 bites the dust

Going to have to call GG. My 2nd G15 in 3 months has come to a bitter sweet end.

Heard something rattling around in the G 15 yesterday, and when I pulled the trigger, the motor engages but the backing plate does not.

Had to finish the job with my trusty PC 7424xp.

It's probably a good idea to always have on on hand. O'l trusty indeed.

Good to use until your warranty is fulfilled at least.

They get too hot in the summer and burn up. GG machines seem to get much warmer than my Rupes mk2

Yes, you are correct. All of a sudden it will just stop working. I remove the bushings, let it cool down, and continue to work with my PC 7424.

I'm going to put a call into the GG guys tomorrow, they are very good at handling the situation and I'm sure they'll ship me out a new one no questions asked.

But I think it's time to start looking for a new primary tool.

I'm just now able to comment on these matters, as I have just begun machine polishing over the last year.

I have the PC 7424XP. I am in no way a stranger to other power tools. And that includes rotary buffers, and German-engineered Fein DA sanders, etc.

The PC to me, is light, quiet, and runs cooler than many other tools I have used. Plus, it works like a charm for me.

Just sayin'.

what size extension cord are you using? My dad having been an electrician says to use bigger gauge extension cords when using power tools. I use 12ga extension cord when using them (including my detailing stuff).

Don't use the 14 or 16ga cords! they will burn up your tools.

I use 14 gauge extention cords to be on the safe side without killing my wallet... But then again, at the Meguiars Garage they have 16 gauge cords coming out of their reels and never had a problem.

In what type of conditions? I've used mine when it was 95*F+ and 80% humidity and never had an issue with the polisher itself. The pads and products however, didn't take as kindly to the heat.

if you're having good luck with your current cords and aren't experiencing any problems then there's no need to get different ones...

Mine wasn't a cord problem... something lose was rattling inside the housing. Just as a wrap-up to this post, BOSS sent me a new G-15, which was thoroughly put to the test.
And, I also have a new Rupes MKII 15 LHR which has not been used yet... but can't wait to try it.
