Drying issues, and brake dust on wheels

Wow, this is exactly what I need!! I just did some reading on it and sounds great! I've just ordered some :)

Just wondering the best way to apply it and how long it lasts? Cheers

Amazing!

Yes I did find this combination on some forum too and had lots of raving reviews!

Wash, Dry

Apply Autosol using a cloth, a little goes a long way, then let it haze and buff off until the surface is shining.

Apply Poorboys wheel sealant using an applicator pad, cheap foam pads are best as you can throw them away. Again let it sit for about a min or two till dry and then buff off and you're done!

I would say it lasts (depending on the weather) approximately 8 to 12 weeks, but I do a lot of motorway driving

Feel free to ask me any questions or PM me I'll be glad to offer whatever little advice possible!

Are those wheels bare metal or factory clearcoated?

Clear coated I believe have a sort of rubbery texture on them

Excuse my ignorance, but I've never waxed/buffed a car before...

What sort of applicator pad are you referring to, and how do you buff it off (and with what)?

Also I'm guessing the autosol step is just to make them more shiny and this step is optional?

Thanks so much for your help!!

just purchase an applicator pad as such (Sorry I'm in the UK), apply a few dots on the pad of autosol and start rubbing it on the alloy wheel.

Get some microfibre cloths and rub until the surface is free of polish and shining, tip - the more you rub the better it gets.

Autosol is a metal polish used to restore aluminium, steel etc to their original state, so it's completely safe to use and in my opinion essential,.

Wheel sealant would be optional however it just means your wheels would require cleaning more often.

Thanks mate, so would you do the Autosol then wheel sealant together say every 2-3 months? Or is the Autosol required more or less often than the sealant?

Cheers!!

Curious on Autosol being optimal on painted and cleared wheels...

If it were surely it would be extensively used on painted panels?

Previous advice I've seen has been treat exactly as you would the body work.. For coated and cleared wheels.

@suf420. I spoke to Audi customer service last night with a question about your wheels.. Turns out they are not clearcoated, which is why you have good results using a metal polish on them..

Great customer service from Audi, they replied fast. I mean Fast!

However, it's not recommended to use metal polish on factory clearcoated wheels. Just a heads up to anyone before they get any bold ideas... Those are premium wheels. Don't go trying the same method on your regular stock factory wheels. Lol.

Oh that's good to know! Thank you for reaching out to Audi directly.

To be honest I've used Autosol on three of my cars previously and never had any problem.

What I like is that I can use it on all the chrome and tail pipes as well and they come out really neat!

After all the work put into cleaning & sealing the wheels, it kills me knowing it will be covered by the 3rd day (yup, not even a week here). I run StopTech sport pads. Good bite, dusts like crazy.

With that, I have had enough and decided to carry a mini cordless blower (dub182z). Spend about 5 seconds on each corner after each commute and it's been working out great.

There's no avoidance with brake dust, but with this method I think I've easily knocked out 80% build up prior to weekly cleaning.
