Might be a silly question. Since it's getting cold here, it's time to apply a winter Sealant on my car. My mustang is washed and prepped, ready for Auto Finesse Power Sealant. I'm trying this Sealant this year, used BFWD last year. When all is done, she will be garaged for the winter months. So here's my question:

If I chose to top the sealant with a wax, does the Sealant underneath enhance the durability of the wax applied? Let me explain further. I have waxes like Souveran, which is really a show wax and lacks durability. If the car is sitting in the garage for the winter, will the show wax over the Sealant make sense or should I apply something with more durability like SeriesII, Supernatural(my personal fav), or something else? Or does it not matter at all because of the Sealant underneath? The only reason for doing the wax is so that it looks awesome when I'm hanging out in the garage. That makes me happy 😁

Thanks!

for the colder/winter months i would just apply one good/solid coat of your sealant...

Sounds like a perfectly good reason to wax it, or wait until later when you want to spend some quality time with it. Or both!

Mmmmm Souveran.

As it going to sit in garage, you won't need much durability to begin with.

Go souveran, it's magic, fasinating, mystic.

I really love souveran.

You actually have it a little bit backwards. The wax with enhance the longevity of the sealant. It acts as a "sacrificial barrier layer" to the sealant. There's really not much you can do to prolong the longevity of a wax except frequent reapplication.

This was my thought too. If the car won't see the light of day, and it's a fair-weather garage queen, then I would go with the best looking wax and not worry about durability. Additionally, if it's going to be dormant until Spring, I don't know if I would even bother with applying anything until Spring. That way, when the car makes it's first warm weather debut it will be wearing a shiny fresh coat of wax.

From my experiences of storing
vehicles (not under covers) in a
garage---regardless the Season:

If watching a bunch of dust pile
up on a vehicle is your thang...
then: Wax away.
