Is a 24hr. curing time absolutely necessary? What about morning dew? Is it critical to avoid morning dew as well?

You'll be fine. I've let mine cure for 5 or so hours and had it get wet with no issues.

Ok cool. I want to try it out on a panel on my car, but it's already 4pm. and the dew will be here tonight and I wasn't sure. I'm gonna clay, machine polish with Griots Perfecting Cream, IPA, then coat.

Gotcha. You'll like it. I usually do two coats to insure full coverage.

It's been holding up extremely well on my wife's van.

Here it is after a week of driving in the rain and fall muck as it sat in our driveway being rained on. Snapped these before I left the other day. Not bad for a dirty car.

Nice beading... Better yet, I'm gonna use Essence, then coat.

There you go. I did that on my S4 but the not yet on the van. I'll wait to hit the van with Essence and re coat it in the spring. The only thing left to do on the van is clean it up for winter and for the sake of it, top it with Essence Plus, necessary or not. It will fulfill my OCD Needs.

Essence and McKee's Paint Coating are my go-to for many of my details.

Ok, so I applied Mckee's paint coating to the left side of my hood.

And the sealant of my choice [which shall remain nameless] on the right.

It applied easy enough, no problems. I'll remove the tapeline tomorrow morning to avoid any possible dusting from it. I also applied the paint coating across all my trunklid.

I applied a second coat after 12 hours without any problems.

Not that I was really think about it, but what does the manufacturer recommend as far as a 2nd coat?

The driver's side of the hood has a more visually consistent beading pattern. The McKee's coating side kind of looks like a sealant that is a bit older and is showing sign of performance degradation.

How long did the coating cure prior to coming into contact with moisture?

3+ hrs. before a light layer of condensation from the cold began to form. When I last checked it last night it was only a small patch in the dead center of the hood, both sides were equally matched with the dew. The trunk had a light even layer of condensation at about the same 3hr. mark.

We had an overnight low of 50 degrees last night.

As far as this actual rain that's going on right now, 19hrs. from the point it was applied to the time it began raining at 2pm today.

It's still raining at the moment. I went outside and took these pictures just now.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the prep prior to applying both the coating and sealant

Waterless wash with Wolfgang Uber, then Meguiars white consumer claybar with Megs D114 as claylube, Carpro Essence w/Orange LC HD Orbital Foam Polishing Pad on Boss G21. Tape down the middle, Coating was applied 1st while the right side of the hood was covered with a waffle weave. Sealant applied 2nd. I used 2 Brand new foam applicators [and of course 2 separate clean microfibers for each]

Did you allow any wait time to apply the coating over essence? I've seen Cory of car pro recommend waiting 1 hour before applying a coating. Or wiping it with an IPA equivalent prior to applying the coating.

The beading looks like when a car is parked under a tree.

Certainly not an hour, no.
I would've never thought anything like that based on the little I had heard going into it... What's an hour going to do? Besides make cold beer warm? Lol. J/k... But at 1st thought, why would that really matter?

Especially after all the stuff I'd heard about Essence being such an "ideal" step before coatings.... Ugh now I'm actually a bit bothered... grrr. I Never heard anything about having to wait an hour. What's up with Carpro not getting their message across in proper manner? How many times has this happened? Smh.

Where's that from? Facebook or something? That's neat, however I'm not on Facebook, I've never even clicked on that site, ever.

I won't hold them accountable for this because they have no responsibility to how Mckee's Paint Coating cooperates with Essence, but I still don't understand how hard it is for that company to put out "official word" on a professional level... Maybe it's just me, but I would think 1st priority would be to get your description thoroughly explained across the board on every website where your product is sold in order to at the very least avoid dozens [if not hundreds] of customers calling your customer service line with needless questions everyday... IMO this type of stuff should be automatic, not a "problem" I should be asking about.

Put it in the description everywhere your "pro" product is sold. These are very simple protocols.

Rant over.
